2 CREDITS - SEMESTER
This course will introduce students to the creative world of digital animation using the computer as a tool. The fundamentals of animation, such as storyboarding, timing, exaggeration, animatics, and staging will be emphasized in each assignment. Through the use of storyboarding, character design, and script, students will create successful, well-developed animations; students will learn how to produce their own unique multimedia animation productions.
Students will incorporate music and/or sound effects in their animations. You can expect to become familiar with Adobe Animate, Procreate, Toon Boom Harmony, and the Intuos digital drawing tablet.
GOALS
Learn and use the principles of animation
Develop a vocabulary for animation
Develop drawing skills with the purpose of storyboarding, in order to communicate concepts, scenes, and a visual narrative
Evaluate personal work and critique the work of others constructively
Learn and develop technical skills in Abode Animate or similar animation software
Learn collaboration skills needed to work on team projects.
