When searching on the internet, it's easy to get overloaded with so many options. One way to filter your search using Google is to use the built in tools. For example, if you are searching for an image of a cat, type the word 'cat' in, but then choose 'Images', click 'Tools', and you can search by Type of image and Usage rights.
If you are going to use the image as is, choose 'Labeled for noncommercial reuse'.
If you need to change it, choose 'Labeled for noncommercial reuse with modification'.
Note: This is only available from a laptop or desktop computer, it does not work on mobile devices.
Have you ever seen an image and wanted to know where it originally came from?
It is common for artists' work to be stolen and the watermark removed and then for an image to be re-shared or someone could be impersonating someone else online (what often happens in 'catfishing') and using the publicly available (or previously stolen) images of a person to try and trick you.
For both finding where an image was originally or possibly seeing it in its unedited form, you can perform what is known as a 'reverse image search'.
Note: If it is a fairly recent image it may not have been indexed yet and Google will suggest it was a screenshot
