This page is about organizing your active and archived google classrooms, particularly if the class is over. For more infomation about how to use google classroom, go here.
Your google classroom page can appear cluttered with classes that are old.
As a student you have only four options:
Ask the teacher to Archive / Tell Mr. Wininger (email dwininger) if they do not (or if they left LPS) - I can get them properly archived, if I know it needs to be done. Teachers have until 9/25 of the following year to archive because of students who may need to make up work due to absence.
Ignore them
If the class disappears on its own, then the teacher may have done one of two things: Archived the Class OR Unenrolled you. To see if it is archived, see the section below.
If the class is not listed in your main class list or in your archive, you have been unenrolled. This means you have lost access to all class materials that you previously did not make a copy of and any work that was not "returned" via classroom is still owned by your teacher and you may need to make a copy of the file(s) in order to retain them.
If the class is archived, you still have access to the posted work, resources, and assignments. Hopefully all work was returned to you.
(The images for the steps below are illustrated to the left if viewing on desktop)
To access archived classes, go to classroom.google.com (or navigate via the apps grid).
Click in the three horizontal lines to the left of the words "Google Classroom."
Scroll to the bottom and select "Archived Classes"
Archived classes are a bit disorganized. They default to the most recently archived / edited is first. You can change the order, but probably not worth spending a lot of time on that. If you do not see the class in your active classes OR archived classes it means you have been unenrolled.
Note: You cannot unenroll yourself from classes. If you want to no longer see the class, you will have to ask your teacher to unenroll you. If your teacher is no longer with LPS, contact a DLC (at LHS Ms. Tenhor or Mr. Wininger).
To access your work, first click on the "Classwork" tab at the top of the respective google classroom and then just below that you will see "View your work".
You can can look to see if things are listed as "Turned in" but have not been "Returned". Not the most efficient way - but there are not really efficient ways.
You also can check on an individual assignment if you are not sure. You do not "Own" an assignment (which means it was not returned) if you open an assignment and then go to "Share" and it says "Ask owner to share". You will need to contact your teacher if you wish to have this assignment in your drive. They can then return it (ideally), or manually change the sharing (does the job, but not ideal).
