Which ones come easily to you? Which ones are you going to work on so that you can become successful?
Takes risks - Speaking a new language can be scary, and you might be afraid of making mistakes. That's ok! Use your Spanish language skills as much as possible.
Learns from mistakes - Everyone makes mistakes when learning new things, but that's when the best learning happens! It's ok to feel embarrassed but then you will remember for next time. No one is ferpect!
Practices outside of class - To really learn a language, daily practice is best, both in AND out of class. Check out THIS PAGE for some of my ideas for how to practice outside the classroom.
Is curious and asks questions - Ask questions about things you are interested in. If you are genuinely interested, then there's no such thing as a "dumb" question.
Tries to sound like a native speaker - Imitate the sounds of the Spanish language and listen closely to how native speakers pronounce their words. You may not have a perfect accent but every little bit helps.
Uses resources - Use materials I give you in class and on this website. Look around the classroom for visuals that give you speaking support. Use Spanish Dictionary to look up words online.
Does not worry about understanding every word - Start with understanding the big picture rather than every word. Look for cognates. Use context and what you already know to help you understand the gist of the topic.
There will be times when you will feel frustrated or defeated, but don't give up. Trust me, I know - I'm learning Russian right now and it can be TOUGH! Try, try, and try again. The rewards and benefits will be amazing.
