Getting to Know Me

Hi Everyone! A little bit about me ...

This will be my 10th year working as a full-time classroom teacher (although I worked in the education field for three years before that). For the first two years of my teaching career I taught 6th grade science and literacy, and then 6th grade math and science for 3 years after that, before joining the Lexington Public School System. My first year in LPS I taught 6th grade math and science as part of team Artemis, and then I taught strictly science as part of team Athena for one year, before jumping back into teaching math and science again, as part of the rebirth of Team Artemis.

This year I am so excited to be a part of Team Pioneer, as I am extremely passionate about teaching both math and science, however also because we are truly in uncharted territory. By teaching both of these subjects I can more easily integrate the two content areas for my students in a meaningful way, and I am looking forward to applying that fusion to a remote learning environment. I believe that students should be learning how to apply what they are learning in math to science, and how much these two subjects depend on each other. I am very much a proponent of STEM, and the remote academy provides a perfect platform for the integration of all four subjects.

I graduated from Lesley University in 2014 with my Master's in Middle School Math and Science, and I obtained my Bachelor's from the University of Maryland in College Park.

I hold teaching certifications in middle school math and science (5-8), elementary education (1-6), and ESL (5-12).

On a more personal note, I was just celebrated my third wedding anniversary with my amazing husband Emmett. He is originally from Ireland so we have plenty of excuses to visit the Emerald Isle! This upcoming November will be our son's first birthday! I cannot believe that I will soon have a toddler on my hands! I love all Boston sports teams, but the Patriots are by far my favorite. My favorite holidays are Halloween and April Fool's day (if that counts). I have two dogs - Mr. Dooley (a Rhodesian Ridgeback) and Mr. Goldie (a long-haired dachshund). I also coordinate the math teams and events for Diamond.

If there's anything that I have missed or anything else that you are curious about please ask! Email is always your best bet when trying to get in touch with me.
