Short Bio

Mr. Bateman moved from New York to Massachusetts in 2006 after finishing college. He now considers the Greater Boston area to be home. He lives just a bit outside the city with his husband and their 4-year-old son, after more than a decade of residing in Allston and in Jamaica Plain in the city of Boston. He is passionate about supporting students as they navigate the ups and downs of adolescence and begin to imagine what is possible for their future, and strives to keep equity and inclusion at the center of his work.

When he's not at school, Mr. Bateman can be found taking in a baseball game, walking along the beach, crafting, or reading.

And yes, he did dye his hair navy blue a while back. The Class of 2023 won a competition he held for his students and selected the color. It has since faded out, but it was a really fun addition during the COVID-19 time at home.
