List of Local Scholarships

Ann Regina McGrath Memorial Scholarship: This award is given to an LHS senior who has overcome obstacles in their own life. Preference may be given, but is not limited to a person touched by cancer.

Anne Borghesani Memorial Scholarship: Anne graduated from LHS in 1985 and died tragically in 1990. Her classmates and family established a memorial prize to honor a cherished friend and to recognize Anne's contributions to her community. As Anne embraced life and sought to improve it, this prize recognizes a member of the senior class who captures Anne's ideal of spirited and dedicated service to both LHS and the greater community.

Barclay Schultz Spirit of '76 award: Barclay was a classmate and loyal friend of the Lexington High School Class of 1976. He died in 1990 while awaiting a lung transplant after having just had a heart transplant. Barc was an outstanding athlete-student at LHS. After high school he went to Brown University. The scholarship is awarded to 1-2 Lexington High School senior athletes who have financial need and plan to attend a four year university.

Cambridge Savings Bank-Kevin J. Fitzgerald Scholarship: This scholarship is issued to graduating Lexington seniors. Qualified recipients are chosen based upon the following criteria: financial need, grades (B average or better), and overall achievements. Scholarship awards can be applied toward a degree at a four year college, 2 year college or other post secondary, accredited program.

Christine Martin Memorial Scholarship: This award is given to a senior who plans to pursue a career working with children in any capacity. The qualifying candidate should have a history of volunteer work or be active in the fight to prevent drinking and driving.

DAR Good Citizen's Award: The student selected must have the qualities of dependability (which includes truthfulness, loyalty, and punctuality); service (which includes cooperation, courtesy, and consideration of others); leadership (which includes personality, self-control, and ability to assume responsibility); and patriotism (which includes unselfish interest in family, school, community and nation) to an outstanding degree.

June Denk Award: The award is given to a graduating Lexington High School senior who has worked in the student library and/or made extensive use of the library.

Honey Dew Donuts: Honey Dew Associates, Inc. supports students in the communities in which they have shops. Their scholarship winners must plan to attend a four year college, have at least a B average and participate in local community/charitable activities.

Isaac Harris Cary Educational Fund: A renewable scholarship for LHS graduates of New England birth or parentage who are needing and worthy.

J.W. Hayden Recreation Centre College Scholarship: The Hayden College Scholarship Program offers scholarships to Lexington residents enrolling in a full-time post-secondary program.

Jason Berger Memorial Scholarship: Awarded to a senior who is enthusiastic about learning, has significantly contributed to the LHS community, and whose personal characteristics include high moral standards, perseverance, compassion and a sense of humor.

Jesi Watson Memorial Scholarship: Awarded to a true animal lover in the Senior class at LHS who has shown compassion to and care of animals beyond simply helping with a pet at home - ideally by volunteer activities at an animal shelter, vet or kennel, or through participation in the LHS SPCA Club.

The Jessica Bussgang Rosenbloom Skating Prize: Awarded to a LHS sophomore, junior or senior student who has excelled both academically and in figure skating. Applicants must be Lexington residents who skate competitively either as a singles skater, pairs skater, ice dancer, or synchronized skater or participate in ice theatre.

The Kent J. Riley Charitable Fund: The fund was established in 2014 to honor Kent J. Riley, a scientist who volunteered his time to community youth sports organizations so that all children would have a spot on a team if they desired. The mission of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to individuals who participated in youth sports and are enrolling in undergraduate study in STEM, medical or allied health professions.

LexArt Scholarship: LexArt is a non-profit educational collaborative that supports, encourages and inspires artisans at all stages of their creative journeys and promotes art in the community. Their scholarship is given to a senior who intends to major in art. Selection is based on a portfolio of 10-12 original art works.

The Lexington Minute Men:This is a scholarship to promote the study of history to an outstanding graduating high school student pursuing an undergraduate degree in the field of history as a major or a minor, at an accredited college or university in the United States.

Lexington Pediatrics: The staff of Lexington Pediatrics as part of their community outreach has established a scholarship to be given to a graduating senior who has demonstrated a commitment of service to his/her community. The award is given annually to a college bound graduating senior. The recipient of the award should be of strong moral character, exemplify both leadership and compassion, and shall have shown selflessness and dedication in the advancement of others.

Lexington Rotary Club Scholarship: The Rotary Club of Lexington issues scholarships to graduating Lexington seniors inclusive of the Metco Program. Qualified recipients are chosen based upon four criteria: financial need, grades, extra-curricular school activities and community service.

The Lexington Whitsons Wellness Achievement Award: The Whitsons Wellness Scholarship is awarded to two senior recipients who demonstrate a commitment to health, wellness, nutrition and physical activity during their high school experience These experiences can also be community-related and do not need to be Lexington High School specific. Further consideration will also be given to applicants who intend to pursue continued studies in the above listed areas at the college level.

Lexington-Bedford Youth Hockey: For an athlete who has had one year minimum participation in Lexington Youth Hockey or has played intramural hockey or been on a traveling team for one year.

Sangwook Ahn Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship is given as a tribute to Sang's life by his family and friends. Sang (Class of 1989) died tragically in a rock climbing accident shortly after his 21st birthday. The award is for a Lexington student planning on attending an institution of higher education who has demonstrated a zest for life which encompasses respect for all, a pursuit of excellence, and service to others.

Srinivasu Meka Scholarship Fund: Srini Meka (Class of 1991) truly cared about people, friendship, love and respect. In the years after his death his passion for life and sense of humor continue to affect his friends and family. This scholarship is awarded to a Lexington High School senior who is planning to attend a four-year college and who exemplifies some of Srini's qualities.

World Language Awards (3):

The Rafe Jenanyan Award: This award goes to a student (senior) who demonstrates excellence in and enthusiasm for the French language and Francophone cultures.

The Nicholas Barnett Award: This award goes to a student (senior) who demonstrates excellence in and enthusiasm for the study of multiple languages.

Chinese American Association of Lexington Scholarship Award: This award goes to a student (senior) who demonstrates excellence in and enthusiasm for the Mandarin language and Chinese culture.
