LPS Performing Arts Core Values Statement

The Lexington Performing Arts Department is a vibrant and diverse community united by our shared passion for celebrating the arts and fostering connections.

The heart of our mission is a commitment to using the performing arts as a catalyst for bringing people together. In our classrooms and performance spaces, our students and educators work hand-in-hand to create collaborative and meaningful experiences that emphasize the profound impact of the artistic process as much as the final performance.

The arts are more than just entertainment—they are a reflection of the human experience. Through music and drama we explore the depths of emotion, connect with one another, and find meaning in our lives.

The arts bind us together, forming the cornerstone of our community. As we come together to celebrate the arts, we embrace a shared vision; we use the arts to enrich our lives, to give meaning to our individual identities, and to embrace the full spectrum of human expression.

We are immensely grateful to be part of the Lexington community that not only appreciates the arts but also recognizes their significance in the academic and social development of our students.

LPS Performing Arts Resources and Repertoire Statement

The Lexington Public Schools Performing Arts Department views the arts as a catalyst for inspiring collaboration, empathy, and understanding. We encourage constructive conversations around challenging topics and reflections of our shared humanity. Our program is dedicated to curating a diverse and inclusive artistic experience that reflects the rich mosaic of our community, fostering a sense of belonging and an appreciation for the arts. As such, we approach repertoire, dramatic productions, and the selection of resources thoughtfully and invest in providing artistic context for our students to help them broaden their views about what the arts bring to their lives.
