English Language Development
Dear families of Estabrook ELLs,
Welcome to the new school year! We wish to extend an especially warm welcome to those families who are new to the Estabrook community. It was wonderful to see so many smiling, happy faces on the first day back to school. We hope you and your students are settling into your new routines.
We have been busy in our ELL classrooms watching your children engage in academic conversations, partner work, listening strategies, reading across genres, and writing.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Dear Lexington Parents:
We are writing to tell you of the English Learner Parent Advisory Council, which we are in the process of establishing. Our goal is to provide our English Language Learner (ELL) Parents a voice in their child’s education.
All ELL Parents are automatically members of this Council and are welcome to all meetings. We are looking for one parent volunteer representative from each school in the district. The role of the representative is to collect input from ELL parents around issues that affect their children and communicate to members of the ELPAC.
The council will be comprised of the following:
- a parent representative from each school (PreK-12)
- an ESL teacher from each of the elementary, middle school, and high school levels
- a school administrator
- representatives of local parent organizations
Once we have prospective candidates, we will ask the principals to appoint the initial representatives. Thereafter, the selection process will be governed by the by-laws established by this Council.
We will have an informational meeting from 5:30 - 7:30 on January 24th, 2019 at the Central Office, upstairs conference room, to answer questions. Please complete the Google Form to express your interest in becoming a representative by January 31, 2019.
The first meeting will be held on February 7, 2019 at 5:30.
We are delighted by the opportunity this collaboration presents to develop partnerships that strengthen our program and provide the best possible experience for your children.
