About LCC

Lexington Children's Chorus inspires young singers through exceptional choral training, joyful music-making, and meaningful performance experiences in a welcoming and supportive community.

Lexington Children’s Chorus (LCC) was established in 2019 and currently serves singers through three progressive ensembles:

Musical Explorers – students entering grades K-1
Preparatory Chorus – students entering grades 2-4
Lexington Children’s Chorus – auditioned ensemble for singers entering grades 4-6

LCC is open to students from Lexington, MA and surrounding communities. Our singers currently come from Arlington, Bedford, Belmont, Burlington, Framingham, Newton, Sudbury, Waltham, Winchester, Woburn, and Wellesley, among others.

Our Story

Founded in 2019, Lexington Children's Chorus (LCC) was created to provide young singers with exceptional choral training in a joyful, welcoming environment while fostering a lifelong love of music and community. Since its founding, LCC has grown from a single ensemble into a three-level choral program serving singers from kindergarten through sixth grade, with students joining us from Lexington and many surrounding communities. Throughout each season, LCC has sought to combine outstanding music education with meaningful community partnerships and memorable performance experiences for every singer.

2019–2020: Our Beginning

Lexington Children's Chorus made its debut in 2019 with an exciting collaboration, joining the Lexington Symphony Orchestra, the Lexington High School Honors Choruses, and members of the Masterworks Chorale in a performance of Carmina Burana. Later that December, LCC was featured on the Lexington Symphony Orchestra's Holiday Pops Concert, performing in all three concerts.

As the chorus began preparing for its first spring concert, the COVID-19 pandemic brought rehearsals and performances to an unexpected halt.

2022–2023: Returning to Music

Following the pandemic, LCC joyfully returned to rehearsals in 2022. During the season, the chorus performed with the MCV Fife & Drums at Cary Hall in Lexington and participated in the Lantern Festival as part of Lexington's CAAL celebration. The season concluded with LCC's own Spring Concert at Follen Church.

2023–2024: Continuing Traditions

In 2023, LCC once again joined the Lexington Symphony Orchestra for its beloved Holiday Pops Concert, performing in all three performances. The chorus also presented its annual Spring Concert at Pilgrim Church in Lexington.

2024–2025: Growing Our Program

As interest in the program continued to grow, LCC expanded by establishing the Preparatory Chorus for singers in grades 2–4, creating a natural pathway for younger children to develop their musical skills before joining the auditioned ensemble.

That season, Lexington Children's Chorus again appeared with the Lexington Symphony Orchestra on its Holiday Pops Concert and collaborated with the Lexington High School Madrigal Singers for a special performance at Seasons Four in Lexington. The year concluded with a combined Spring Concert featuring both the Preparatory Chorus and Lexington Children's Chorus.

2025–2026: A Complete Choral Pathway

The 2025–2026 season marked another exciting milestone with the addition of Musical Explorers, welcoming singers in kindergarten and first grade and completing LCC's comprehensive three-level choral program. We were also delighted to welcome Blake Weller and Julie Weller to our artistic staff as the Musical Explorers instructors.

This season also marked LCC's move to its new rehearsal home at Academy of Creative Arts in Burlington, where we have been grateful for the warm welcome and generous support of owners Java and Hetal Joshi. Their partnership has provided a wonderful home for our growing program.

Lexington Children's Chorus once again performed in all three Lexington Symphony Orchestra Holiday Pops Concerts, continuing a cherished annual tradition. During the spring, the Lexington Children's Chorus and Preparatory Chorus shared music with residents at Waterstone at Lexington, presenting a special community performance that was warmly received. We were honored to be invited to return the following season.

The year concluded with a combined Spring Concert at Pilgrim Church, bringing together Musical Explorers, Preparatory Chorus, and Lexington Children's Chorus for the first time. The performance celebrated the complete musical pathway now offered by LCC, from a child's very first choral experiences through advanced ensemble singing.

Looking Ahead

As Lexington Children's Chorus enters its seventh season, we look forward to welcoming new singers, strengthening community partnerships, and continuing to provide exceptional musical experiences for children throughout Lexington and the surrounding communities. We are excited to continue growing alongside our singers as they discover the joy of making music together.

Meet the Artistic Director

Allison Iannuzzi

Allison Iannuzzi, Founder and Artistic Director of the Lexington Children's Chorus, is an experienced music educator, conductor, and performer with over twenty-five years of teaching experience. She has taught vocal and instrumental music and drama to students in Pre-K through eighth grade in the Wellesley, Lexington, and Belmont Public Schools, and currently teaches chorus at Chenery Upper Elementary School in Belmont, Massachusetts.

Allison earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, and a Master of Music Education from Boston University. She has received extensive training in Kodály and Orff methodologies, bringing these approaches to her work with young musicians to foster joyful, sequential music learning and healthy vocal development.

An active performer, Allison has appeared as a soprano soloist in both concert and musical theater repertoire. Performance highlights include serving as soprano soloist for Fauré's Requiem with the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh under the direction of Joseph Flummerfelt and with Magnum Opus on its summer concert tour of France. She has also performed with internationally acclaimed ensembles including the Westminster Symphonic Choir, Westminster Singers, and the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, with performances alongside the New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic, and New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, among others.

In 2019, Allison founded the Lexington Children's Chorus to provide exceptional choral training in a joyful, welcoming environment where young singers can develop healthy vocal technique, strong musicianship, confidence, and a lifelong love of singing. Under her leadership, LCC has grown into a three-level choral program serving singers from kindergarten through sixth grade and has collaborated with organizations including the Lexington Symphony Orchestra, the Lexington High School Choral Program, the MCV Fife & Drums, and other community arts partners. Allison is passionate about helping every child discover the joy of making music while inspiring artistic excellence, curiosity, and a love of ensemble singing.

Meet Our Accompanist

Matthew Polletto

Matthew is entering his 26th year as an elementary music education specialist. He began his teaching career in the Brookline Public Schools, a position he held for nine years. In the fall of 2008, he joined the staff of the Wellesley Public Schools, accepting a position at Schofield Elementary School, where he continues his professional work to this day. Matthew earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, summa cum laude, from the University of Southern Maine School of Music (Gorham, ME) and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, summa cum laude, from Lesley University (Cambridge, MA). He also holds a Certificate of Advanced Study in Teaching Composition (USM, Gorham, ME). Matthew is thrilled to be working with Allison once again and is excited to be part of the LCC community.

Meet Our Musical Explorers Instructor

Maggie Harrigan

Maggie is an elementary music educator with 14 years of experience teaching young musicians in the Greater Boston area. She has taught for four years in Waltham and has spent the past ten years teaching in Burlington. Her teaching is grounded in developmentally appropriate, joyful music-making experiences that invite children to learn through movement, exploration, and active participation. She uses a sound-before-sight approach to help students develop their musical ears and build confidence in their singing voices before introducing music notation. She especially loves helping young singers discover and access their singing voices and watching their confidence grow as they experience the joy of making music together. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Gordon College and her Master’s degree in Music Education from the Eastman School of Music. She is passionate about creating welcoming musical spaces where every child can feel successful, expressive, and excited to sing.
