The Family Center of Lexington One follows the nationally recognized Parents As Teachers (PAT) model that believes:
Parents are their children’s first and most influential teachers.
The early years of a child’s life are critical for optimal development and provide the foundation for success in school and in life.
All young children and their families deserve the same opportunities to succeed, regardless of any demographic, geographic, or economic considerations.
Established and emerging research is the foundation of our curricula, training, materials and services.
An understanding and appreciation of the history and traditions of diverse cultures is essential in serving families.
The Family Center Goals
To help parents strengthen their confidence in parenting and knowledge of child development
To provide support and refer parents with specific needs to community resources
To offer group connections for families to interact with other families and make new friends
To encourage parents to be fully participating partners in their's child's education, beginning at birth and continuing through school entry
