The Class of 2026 with Mav and Dr. Baskett after the 3rd Annual Stole Ceremony.
The College Center (TCC) is Lexington One's early college program that partners with Midlands Technical College to offer students the opportunity to complete an associate degree in high school for FREE. Our first three graduating cohorts had a 95% success rate in completing the associate degree.
TCC is not an at-risk program. It was designed for motivated students who might benefit from being in a smaller cohort (cap of 100 per grade level) as they complete high school and college credits.
Students can apply to TCC in the Fall of their 8th-grade year. The application window usually opens in Late September/Early October through November. High school students looking to transfer to The College Center must start by speaking to their school counselor at their zoned high school. TCC will review transcripts on a case by case basis to see if
Students benefit from TCC's strong cohort model, with a maximum of 100 students per grade level, as they earn both high school and college credits. The program begins in 9th grade.
TCC utilizes the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) curriculum as the foundation of its cohort model.
"AVID Secondary is a comprehensive program for grades 6–12 that bridges the gap between students’ aspirations and their readiness for college and careers."
Admitted students from all five high schools in Lexington County School District One attend this full-day program (8:55 a.m. - 2:50 p.m.) at North Lake Community Learning Center. Students are still considered students of their home high schools, and as such can participate in extracurricular activities, athletics & clubs with their home schools. However, all academic classes are taken at The College Center.
It's important to note that you cannot attend The College Center and take classes at the Lexington Technology Center (LTC) or at their home schools while attending TCC.
The mission of TCC is to create and sustain a culture that promotes a sense of belonging, collaboration, and academic excellence.
The vision of TCC is to see its graduates apply their learning to make a lasting generational impact in their families and communities.
