SCHOOL COUNSELING
Andrea Davies
Hi Patriots! My name is Andrea Davies. I am excited to be your school counselor. I love helping students create their academic and social goals to become self-confident, lifelong learners. Developing academic and social skills supports individual growth but will also help build a strong school community. School counselors support students in various ways! You might see me in your classroom for a group lesson, or you may meet with me in a small group to develop and strengthen skills, or you might visit me for an individual session.

Our boys love to play lacrosse, we love to watch college football, lacrosse, & Atlanta Braves baseball. We enjoy spending family time together playing games. I love to read and make crafts. We have a dog named Daisy & a cat named Snickers.

Student Check-Ins
Each morning, your school counselors greet students as a way to check in and determine any visible needs before the day even begins. When our schedule permits, we also visit classrooms, walk the hallways, and pop into the lunchroom and recess to check in on the social and emotional needs of our students.
Individual Counseling
Individual Counseling may be conducted as part of your child's general education. We may work with students who could be struggling with family matters (separation, divorce, grief & loss), friendship issues, emotional regulation, confidence, etc. Individual Counseling with a school counselor is short term and solution-focused. This means we will work with a student 4-6 weeks depending on the student's specific needs and capabilities. If a student still requires help after we have worked with them, we will call the guardian to determine if a referral for outside services is appropriate. OGES is home to Casey Williams, a Lexington County Community Mental Health Therapist Consultant who works within the building to offer mental health services. Please contact your child's school counselor if you are interested in a referral to Ms. Williams.
Small Group Counseling
Small Group Counseling is offered by your school counselors when a need arises for students experiencing similar struggles. Small groups are conducted for 5-6 weeks and are needs based. Small groups can vary from learning how to make and keep friendships, family matters (divorce, separation, grief & loss, etc), confidence building, social skills, etc.
Classroom Counseling Lessons
Each month, we visit every classroom to share strategies that promote student success in the areas of social development, academic achievement, and personal growth.
