About Our Program

Vision Statement

The students at Lake Murray Elementary are taught skills to design their future and are empowered to use those skills to be responsible citizens and life-long learners. This will be supported by the comprehensive school counseling program in collaboration with the school, home, and community.

Mission Statement

The mission of the LME School Counseling Program is to work collaboratively with school, home, and community to empower each child to be self-directed learners and leaders. We accomplish this through the implementation of a proactive, comprehensive, and developmental school counseling program that addresses the academic, social/emotional, and career needs of all students.

Belief Statements

  1. All students can reach their full potential when treated with respect and dignity and provided with a safe and supportive school environment.

  2. All students should have access to a high quality education that meets their developmental needs and prepares them for postsecondary success.

  3. Every student should have access to a comprehensive, developmental school counseling program that promotes and enhances student academic, career and social/emotional growth.

  4. To effectively meet the diverse needs of students, school counselors collaborate with students families, teachers, administrators and community stakeholders.

  5. School Counselors are leaders by using data to design an appropriate school counseling program that advocates for every student.

  6. School Counselors apply the ASCA Ethical Standards and ASCA School Counselor Professional Standards and Competencies to guide their decision making.

  7. School Counselors follow the South Carolina Comprehensive School Counseling Model and ASCA Model to manage, deliver and assess their program to ensure maximum support of all students.
