Dr. David Stephenson is currently in his 23rd year of teaching secondary-level choral and various music classes. Since 2018, he has served as Choral Director at Lexington (SC) High School in Lexington, South Carolina. Previously, he served as Choral Director at Pelion (SC) High School (2004-18) and Middlesex High School in Saluda, Virginia (2002-04). Dr. Stephenson also is an adjunct instructor of music education at Anderson University in Anderson, South Carolina.
His concert choirs consistently earn superior ratings at adjudicated events, and his contemporary pop a cappella choirs have performed at prestigious events such as the National A Cappella Convention.
Dr. Stephenson is a graduate of the University of Georgia (BM in music education), Eastern Kentucky University (MM in choral conducting), and the University of South Carolina (Ph.D. in music education). Additionally, he has served for numerous pre-service music education students from Newberry College and the University of South Carolina. Dr. Stephenson has presented sessions at the SCMEA Professional Development Conference, Newberry College, New York University IMPACT Music Education Conference, and the University of South Carolina Carolina Institute for Leadership and Engagement in Music (CILEM).
Dr. Stephenson and his wife (Meg - a former music educator) have three boys.
