Honors Opportunities in the ARTS

Children's Honor Choir (Grades 4 and 5)

The Children's Honor Choir provides gifted vocalists the opportunity to grow in their singing talent and musical knowledge.  These 4th and 5th grade students represent elementary schools from around the district.  This audition based group performs throughout our community and in our schools.   Nominations to audition for the group are accepted in August and early September.

Honors Art (Middle School)

The District Honors Art program provides gifted middle school visual artists the opportunity to work closely with highly qualified educators in a weekly studio setting.  The class provides exciting and yet challenging projects of different mediums for students to enrich their artistic skills.  The artwork created during the  program is exhibited during the spring semester in the Lexington Town Hall.

Honor Band, Chorus, and Orchestra (Middle School)

Our Honor Band, Choir, and Orchestra is composed of students from our eight middle schools.  Each group has approximately 50 or more participants each year.  These two day clinics provide our young musicians the opportunity to polish their musical reading and performance skills in addition to their overall musicianship.  Guest conductors traditionally join our talented middle school music faculty in bringing this opportunity to our students. These annual clinics occur in the spring semester of each year.

Tri-DAC (Grades 5 - 8)

Tri-DAC Alumni Arts Intensive (Grades 9 -12)

Lexington One Tri-DAC Alumni are cordially invited to attend our Tri-DAC Alumni Arts Intensive. This program features fine arts enrichment delivered by master teachers from Lexington School District One as well as surrounding school districts.  Students will work to sharpen their artistic skills as they create goals to move their abilities to the next level of performance.  This intensive is open to Tri-DAC alumni currently enrolled in Lexington School District One high schools.  Classes will take place for 3 consecutive days during the month of June.
