Job shadowing is a short-term career exploration experience where students spend a day observing a professional in their workplace. It helps students learn what a job is really like, ask questions, and connect schoolwork to future goals.
High school students have the opportunity to participate in one excused job shadowing experience each semester. Students interested in job shadowing should talk with their school’s Career Specialist about the process. Students must complete a request form in advance, obtain permission from a parent or guardian, and arrange their own transportation.
Middle school students in Lexington One participate in a district-wide job shadowing day in February. To participate, students and their families should contact their middle school's counseling office directly for instructions.
