Other Program Activities

Red Ribbon Week

In October, we celebrate “Red Ribbon Week.” Red Ribbon Week is a national drug prevention program where students across America learn about how to make healthy choices to keep their body and their brains healthy and safe.

Career Month

In the spring, the students learn about different career opportunities. We like to make the connection to why school is important and how the skills learned in school are used in various careers. Activities that take place include career vehicle day, parade, and flat Stanley/Sally projects.

School-wide Calm Down Kits

By the end of the school year, each classroom is provided a calm down kit with tools students can use to practice healthy coping strategies when upset instead of hurting others, themselves, or destroying things. Kits include: stress balls, rubix cubes, legos, pipe cleaners, pop its, slinkies, coloring supplies, etc.

Weekend Snack Bags

Every Friday, students who sign up will receive a bag of snacks for the weekend. A letter is sent home in September. If you are interested in this program, be on the lookout in your child's take home folder.

GES Cares

In December, families in need are able to receive holiday gifts for their children. A letter with more information will be sent home in November.

Winter Coat Drive

Coats are donated to students who are in need of a new winter coat. A letter with more information will be sent home in December.

Yoga Classes

This year students will have the opportunity to start their day with a yoga class so that they can be focused and calm for school. Details coming soon!
