Although English has long been considered an important second language in Japan, people are beginning to realize that language diversity is an essential aspect of our increasingly globalized society.  Language practitioners and researchers alike have recently emphasized that exposure to different languages helps develop a flexible mindset, cultivates sensitivity to diverse cultures and new perspectives, and enables deeper levels of communication.  Although meeting people face-to-face has become more limited during the pandemic, we increasingly live in a society where we can connect with people from anywhere in the world online.  The value of meeting people in person has also been rediscovered.

Launched in January 2015, the LMP (LEX Multilingual Presentation) provides a platform for young people to share their personal discoveries from a "multilingual" perspective.  These individuals have had the opportunity to reflect on and appreciate human nature and diversity in a multilingual, multicultural, and multigenerational environment.  Thus far, we have organized 11 LMPs (including one virtual event), during which 366 young individuals and groups (Final Rounds) have delivered their messages to the world in three or more languages, leveraging their multilingual experiences.  The young presenters' multilingual presentations visualized Hippo Family Club's immersion-style multilingual language learning activities and transnational exchanges.  Through previous LMPs, we have met many young people from around the world with multilingual experience.  The LMP is a great opportunity for young people to reflect on their experiences and express their thoughts.

What is ordinary for one person may be extraordinary for another, so all experiences and perspectives are welcome.  As they create their presentations, presenters often rediscover their "unique," "special," and "extraordinary" selves.  Therefore, presenters' powerful messages could inspire the audience to embrace multilingualism and diversity!

There are few opportunities to share language experiences with the world.  We look forward to hearing your messages at the 12th LMP Youth Tokyo event.  This event consists of two parts: the "Online Semifinals," which aims to amplify the voices of young people around the world, and the "Final Round," where you can experience the passion of the presentations firsthand.

Let's embrace multilingualism and create a more vibrant world!

　日本では、第二言語（外国語）といえば、英語ばかりに目が向けられてきました。

　しかし、グローバル社会がより進展していく中で、英語を母語とする人は世界でとても限られていることも認識されるようになりました。

　多様な言語の体験を持つことが、柔軟な発想を育み、他者の考えや視点、文化を理解しようとする感性を養うことにつながり、より深くコミュニケーションをとれるということが、実際に体験を持つ人や言語研究者から聞かれるようになってきています。

　コロナ禍以降、オンラインで世界のどこの人とも分け隔てなくつながれる社会が浸透してきました。そして改めて実際に出会うことの価値も再発見されています。

　LMP（LEX Multilingual Presentation）は、多言語・多文化・多世代の環境に浸り、多様性を楽しみ、人間の面白さを体感してきた若者たちが、「多言語」の視点で自らのメッセージを発信する場として、2015年1月に始まりました。

　これまでに計11回（うち1回はオンライン開催）開催し、延べ366組（本選）の若者が、多言語（3言語以上）で、自らの多言語体験に基づいたメッセージを、世界・社会に向けて発信してきました。

　これまでのLMPを通して、ヒッポファミリークラブが実践している多言語の自然習得・獲得と多国間交流の成果が、目に見えるマルティリンガル・プレゼンテーションとなったと同時に、世界には多言語体験をもつ若者たちが本当にたくさんいることも分かりました。

　そんな若者たちが、今一度自らの体験に目を向け、そこから感じたことを言語化する大きなチャンスがLMPです。

　自分にとっては普通のことも、他者にとっては驚くべきものであることがあります。

　プレゼンターは、LMPへのチャレンジを通して、自分の体験の中にあり、そして誰もが持っている、「Unique（唯一無二の）」、「Special（特別な）」、「Extraordinary（並外れて素晴らしい）」を見つけ、自分のことばにほどくことを経験します。

　だからこそ、プレゼンターの身体を通して発信される力強いメッセージは、説得力を持って多くの来場者に影響を与えるのです。

　世の中に「ことばの体験」を発信する機会はあまり多くありません。

　この機会に発せられるメッセージを、より多くの人が堪能できる場を目指し、The 12th LMP Youth Tokyoを開催いたします。

　今回はより多くの若者のメッセージを世界中の人に聞いてもらうことを目指した「オンライン公開予選」と、リアルにプレゼンテーションの熱を感じられる「本選」の2本立てで開催します。

　多言語で世界を、人生を、もっと面白く感じるきっかけとなれば、幸いです。
