Summer Reading

Summer 2019 Reading List: English 1-4

To see your assignment, open the link from the list below according to your Lexile range. Students were given Lexile scores during homeroom. More information can be obtained from any English teacher.

Read the novel and submit the formative assessment by August 30, 2019.

Copies of most books are available at BLHS library, or students may purchase their own private copy of the text.

• BLHS Summer Reading: Lexile 400-700

AP/Dual Enrollment/Honors

Students registered for AP Language & Composition or dual enrollment with Midlands Technical College (ENG 101), have a summer reading assignment tailored to their curriculum. Access the AP/Dual Enrollment Summer Reading here.

Other Details: Texts will be checked-out in a first-come, first-serve style. Students are more likely to be able to check out their first pick the sooner they visit the library. If the text a student selects have all been checked out, the student will have to choose a different text or buy his/her own copy.
