Marshall Islands

The Marshall Islands are between Hawaii and Australia. In the beginning of World War II, the Japanese made forts for defense measures. When the war ended with Japan's loss, the United States was given control.

For almost 40 years the islands were under U.S control. Between 1947 and 1962 the U.S used some of these islands for nuclear testing.

The United States is 42,282 times larger than the Marshall Islands.
