❀REFLECTION PAPER | ICT AS A PLATFORM FOR CHANGE❀
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has undeniably become a significant platform for change in our world. In our everyday lives, it has transformed how we communicate, access information, and carry out daily routines. In the business world, it’s revolutionized operations, marketing strategies, and customer interaction. In education, ICT has enhanced learning experiences, enabled remote learning, and provided access to global resources. In governance, it’s improved transparency, public participation, and efficiency. Reflecting on these transformations, it’s evident that ICT holds immense power to change and will continue to shape our future.
❀DIGITAL DIVIDE ❀
Digital divide refers to the gap between those who have access to information and communication technology (like the internet, computers) and those who don’t. As a student, this could affect my capability to access educational resources, participate in online discussions or even submit assignments. It’s a big deal in today’s digital world. In today’s world, the digital divide has significant implications. It can affect education, as many schools now use online resources for teaching. Those without access can fall behind.
❀PERSONAL EXPERIENCE ❀
We were working on a group project. I decided to work on it in a local library using their public Wi-Fi. All of a sudden, I received an email claiming to be from my school portal, asking to confirm my login details due to a ‘security breach’.
Remembering our lessons on network safety, I felt something was off. Instead of responding to the email, I logged into my school portal directly and checked for any official notices. Turns out, it was a phishing attempt!
Later on, I joined a virtual class discussion. Keeping in mind online etiquette, I ensured my mic was muted when not speaking, I used appropriate language, and respected everyone’s time to speak.
