FRIDAY, MAY 27, 2022 - As the Academic Year 2021-2022 came to an end for the Senior High School Department, the 5th Commencement Exercises was held in the Philippine International Convention Center and streamed via Facebook Live.

The afternoon began with the entrance of the Colegio's Mace with Associate Professor Jinky Batiduan, the Colegio's Registrar. Afterward, there were 364 graduates marching in each section, including the loyalty and academic awardees.

The commencement exercise formally started as Ms. Mari Bernadette Regalado from STEM12-A, Batch Salutatorian, gave her welcoming remarks. "Today, we are marching toward the finish line of High School. We will officially be declared graduates of Senior High School in just a few hours. And today, we will become Letran graduates... We may have different reasons for choosing Letran to be our home for our senior year, but still one thing is for sure, we decided to be part of the historic institution," she said.

Mr. Eric N. Awi, Ph.D., Senior High School Principal presented the petition of graduation and gave the conferment of the graduates' educational attainment.

Furthermore, Rev. Fr. Clarence Victor C. Marquez O.P., gave his address of concession. "By God's grace we are back in the PICC, conducting this solemn academic exercise in person," he remarked.

The ceremony's highlights arrived, as Mr. Awi presented the candidates for graduation and Rev. Fr. Marquez conferred the diplomas and awards to the Senior High School Batch 2022.

Ms. Mary Jhea Agaton from STEM12-C, the Batch Valedictorian and a loyalty awardee, was the recipient of AY Foundation National Discipline Award and received the Rector's Award, for recognizing her achievements of having the highest academic excellence award of Class of 2022.

Following, Mr. Ramille Ibarra from STEM12-B, the Letran Senior High School Student Council President, led the Panunumpa ng Letranista.

The address of thanks was delivered by Ms. Mary Jhea Agaton, Batch Valedictorian. “Ano nga ba ang mga SANA nating lahat? Sana mas ginalingan ko pa. Sana nag-raise ako ng hand sa klase. Sana mas nagsalita pa ako. Sana tinalo ko iyong champion. Sana mayroon din akong iPhone 13 Pro Max. Sana may kotse rin kami papuntang PICC. Sana mayaman kami. Sana nag-apply na rin ako sa UP. Sana ako na lang. Sana… Sana hindi na lang ito," she stated. Moreover, she shared her journey about her experiences ten years ago and on how she became and achieved what she is right now, "It took me ten years to eventually stand in front of this center as a Valedictorian." She also gave her sincerest gratitude to her friends who were also part of the Commencement Exercises, teachers, and especially to her family.

"To the Class of 2022, I want to thank each and everyone of you for becoming the building blocks of the Senior High School Department of Colegio de San Juan de Letran," she said, recognizing the efforts of every graduate.

To end her message, she stated, "Guys, papunta pa lang tayo sa exciting na part. As we move on to Collegiate life, as we part ways to different schools, let’s bring with us the values we learned in Letran, in relationships, in times that we fall, and all in the sweet years of high school life. Y jamas olvidarte, Letran. And never to forget you, Letran!"

The graduation concluded as the graduates sung their graduation song entitled, "Soar High, Senior High." They also danced to "Salamat, Letran". Also, the graduates sung the Himno del Colegio de San Juan de Letran, an excellent manner to end the Fifth Commencement Exercises of the Senior High School Department of Letran-Manila.

Indeed, we have reached the ending and a mark of a new beginning, Class of 2022!
