STEM WEEK 2023: Casio Philippines Conducts Calculator Workshop for STEM Students

MANILA, Philippines - Letran SHS Manila  Department - STEM Area, together with Casio Philippines, successfully held its workshop entitled, “CALCULATING SUCCESS: Unlocking the Power of Your Casio Scientific Calculator”, for grade 11 STEM students as part of the STEM Week 2023 at St. Thomas Hall on October 17, 2023.

The seminar was led by Ms. Lysette Marie B. Ventura, an academic coordinator for Casio Calculator training workshops, who shared her expertise and techniques, from basic to advanced features of Casio Calculator, that will help STEM students in their future endeavors. 

According to Ms. Roanne De Guzman, coordinator of the workshop, the event aims to help students familiarize themselves with using calculators, regardless of their brand, because it makes learning easier and less time-consuming than manual solving.

“Kasi kahit gaano pa kaganda ang calculator mo, kung hindi mo naman na-uutilize yung potential, balewala rin,” she highlighted.

On the other hand, Casio Philippines also lent each participant a sample of the FX-911CW Casio Calculator to use as a sample to showcase the full potential of the calculator in the lecture.

Using the sample calculator, Ms. Ventura demonstrated how to master the use of different symbols and functions that are hidden in calculators, including factorial notation, logarithmic functions, inputting tables, measuring of central tendency, and summation of data.

The said seminar is part of Casio Philippines' initiative for four years to equip Letran's students, teachers, and classrooms to be technologically ready.
