SATURDAY, January 15, 2022 - As Letran prepares its doors again for the new Academic Year 2022-2023, the Senior High School Department organized its annual Virtual Open House. It allowed the incoming students to have a glimpse of Letran’s style of education from their exceptional faculty and learn about the online culture, scholarships, and facilities. The said program was aired through the Zoom Conference, spanning 10 AM to 12 NN.

Dr. Eric N. Awi, Ph.D., the Principal of the Senior High School Department, pointed out during his welcoming remarks that no one is left behind, even in this pandemic, where many uncertainties and worries linger around. "We aim for all our students to be happy and to be challenged in a supportive and safe environment by developing well-rounded individuals who can demonstrate resilience and determination to succeed," he added. "We believe in the strong sense of continuity among spirituality, nationalism, and our teaching practices. All for Deus, Patria, Letran. Siempre Arriba, Siempre Letran!” Dr. Awi exclaimed as he concluded his speech.

Following that, Ms. Desiree Castillo, the Senior High School Core Learning Area Coordinator, was presented to provide a brief and detailed description of the Senior High School Curriculum and such.

Letran has two (2) tracks available where students can choose from: the Academic and Technical Vocational Livelihood (TVL) tracks. Letran only offers four (4) strands: Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics (STEM) and Accountancy, Business, & Management (ABM) for the Academic track, while Home Economics (HE) and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for the TVL track.

The said strands are all integrated with the General Academic Strand (GAS) and Humanities and Social Science (HUMMS) subjects, to which Ms. Desiree showed some subjects included in the Letran's Senior High School curriculum. This offers students additional knowledge and meaningful learning experiences in preparation for any college program they wish to pursue.

Since the Colegio is a religious institution, the Senior High School Core Curriculum has Christian Living Education courses that further develop the students' spirituality and Christian values. The department also produces multilingual graduates by providing English, Filipino, and Foreign Language subjects, notably Basic Mandarin.

Ms. Desiree also came across the Colegio’s Let's Flex Learning Program. Thus, flexible learning makes distance learning accessible, comfortable, and worthwhile in the Colegio. "The goal is to provide Letran's academic community an opportunity to re-think, re-imagine, and revolutionize its teaching and learning paradigms towards more creative, innovative, and contextually based learning solutions," Ms. Desiree highlighted.

In addition to this, the Colegio has two (2) modes of learning: Asynchronous and Synchronous classes. Students need not worry that they're only by themselves, especially during the Asynchronous courses. The teachers are always on standby during work hours for further assistance towards any inquiries or concerns.

Mr. Jerry Escultura, the TechVoc (HE & ICT) Learning Area Coordinator, was then welcomed to further discuss the ICT and HE strand. Since the curriculum is anchored to TESDA Learning Competencies, the TESDA National Certifications are also part of the ICT program.

"These assessments will measure the skills and knowledge of the students, and achieve standards for Virtual Graphic Design, Computer Systems Servicing, and Animation," Mr. Jerry stated. Students have all passed the TESDA National Certifications with the ICT program’s curriculum, making it a 100% passing rate.

It is also the same as the Home Economics program, wherein the students have a 100% passing rate in the TESDA National Certifications. "This ensures that we are committed to providing you with quality education for your chosen strand," encouraged Mr. Jerry. The HE strand is more skill-oriented, wherein they are allowed to work and compete outside of the Colegio for their further exposure and meet some experts in terms of bartending, cooking, etc. The HE faculty members are also highly-qualified to teach the specialized subjects, equipping the students with more knowledge to increase their skills and talents in the said field.

As for the ABM strand, Mr. Isaiah Samson briefly introduced its nature. "This strand can develop and enhance your finance skills, analytical skills, collaboration skills,…" he noted as he emphasized that ABM isn't just all about business and Mathematics. In this strand, students can also be trained in handling proper time management, which is crucial, especially in the business field.

With the last strand in hand, the STEM Learning Area Coordinator, Ms. Monique Molina, explains what to expect in STEM. With the Let's Flex Learning Program being implemented in the Colegio, this primarily focuses on using Virtual Laboratories, Google Suite, and online STEM activities. "In the department, they will learn not only in academics but also the application of concepts in real-life situations. Most importantly, they are molded to become long-life learners and a citizen with virtues and values," Ms. Molina concluded as she showed all of the faculty members under the STEM strand.

After the brief discussion for each of the strands, the moderator tackled the scholarships available in the Colegio and mentioned the Ayuda: Letran, the student device loan for flexible learning. He also discussed the documents needed for the admission and its process for the future Letranites to take note of. Questions were also gladly entertained by the moderator afterward.

In the Academic Year 2022-2023, there are no admission tests. Acceptance of applications and payment for the reservation of seats for A.Y 2022-2023, on the other hand, shall be recognized until March 2022.
