MANILA, PHILIPPINES— The Letran Senior High School Student Council (LSHSSC) spearheaded “Lumina Excellentiae: Couture of Teachers’ Honor” on October 10, 2025 at the Balagtas Hall, to celebrate the Letran SHS faculty’s dedication and unwavering passion for teaching.
In an interview, the LSHSSC President Michael Rivera shared that organizing the event was not an easy task, but it was worth it knowing they were able to dedicate a special day to honor their teachers.
“We conducted this event of course to appreciate our teacher’s hard work… we want them to feel that they are not only teachers but they are also our mentors, our role models at isa sa mga reason kung bakit tayo nagpupursige sa pag aaral. Mahirap gumawa ng event pero it is always worth it lalo na't alam mong maraming matutuwa,” Mr. Rivera said.
The event began with an “Excellence Ramp” or a fashion-inspired runway for the Senior High School teachers, followed by tribute performances from the Letran Danza En Ritmo performing group and Impresarious Guild, along with several engaging games.
Additionally, the program proceeded with a student-voted awards segment, recognizing teachers with titles such as Radiant of Openness won by Sir Charlie Bautista, Critical of Style, won by Ms. Althea Mico, The Spark of Sunshine won by Ms. Alaiza Adan, Master of Wit won by Mr. Thomas Eric Paulin, and the Luminara award won by Ms. Cindy Samaniego.
During the teachers’ appreciation luncheon, the Student Council presented various audio-visual materials, including their very own “Life without the lesson plan” video, which showcased each teacher beyond their academic environment.
The Creative Hub also prepared heartfelt student greetings that added a personal touch to the celebration.
Furthermore, certificates of appreciation were awarded to the student-teachers who participated in the “A Day in the Life of a Letran SHS Teacher (Student-Teacher in a Week Edition)” program, recognizing their efforts and enthusiasm in experiencing the teaching profession firsthand.
The program concluded with an appreciation gifts segment for the SHS teacher, where the Student Council distributed tokens of gratitude to the teachers, including the Jar of Excellence, a collection of heartfelt messages and notes from each advisory class.
Lastly, Mr. Rivera shared that the organization is looking forward to more engaging and meaningful events for the rest of the school year, all aimed at further appreciating every member of the school’s administration.
“Of course the event is worth it. As the student council, we feel accomplished kapag nabibigyan namin ng appreciation ang bawat tao ng aming administration. We are also looking forward to possible events para mas maging masaya ang school year na ito,” Mr. Rivera added.
A photo opportunity concluded the event, where teachers and students came together to capture the fulfillment of a day dedicated to appreciation.
