Language Month 2020: Culminating Activity

To conclude this year’s Language month celebration, with the theme of “Multilingual Generation Towards Global Perspectives” which was organized by the Language teachers in the SHS Department, a culminating activity was conducted on February 28, 2020, Friday at the SC Auditorium to award all the students who have won during the competitions that were held in line with the celebration.

The program began with the opening remarks of Asst. Prof. Eric N. Awi, the senior high school principal, spoke about the importance of language and how our generation should continue to move forward without compromising one’s values and ethics. Before the awarding, a short video presentation prepared by the Letran SHS Fourth Estate was shown where the highlights of the recently held events were presented including the Lantern Festival, Photo and Poetry Competition, Dramatic Monologue, Language Tutorial, and Book drive, Staged 2: The Musicale and the Literature and Language Quiz Bee.

After the short video recap, the presentation of awardees soon followed beginning with the awardees of the Lantern Festival competition, for third place, Gabriel Angelo Jaca and Kristine Valenzuela from ABM 12 C, for 2nd place, Alan Prieto, Cheska Francisco, Leslie Duvao, Anne Kristi Sabangan and Christian Narcida of STEM 12 C and the first place was bagged by Appriori Quitoriano, Jacqueline Juinio, Jenina Manalili, Jenine Palagag and Kym Pumarad from STEM 12 C and best exhibit for the competition was bagged by ABM12C.

The winners for the photo and poetry competition happened after, in subsequence: Matt Obiena and Shantal Santiago from ICT 12 B and STEM 11 D for 3rd place, Kylie Niechols Miranda and Kathleen Landong from ABM 11 A for 2nd place and Thaine Eisley Bortanog and Julius Ivan Jores from STEM 11 A received first place.

For the Dramatic Monologue, the winners are as follow: Mary Angelika Quiroz from STEM 12 C and Agatha San Juan from ICT 12 A who both placed 3rd, Lance Patrick Caro from ABM 12 C placed in 2nd and the first place was taken by Ramon Kyle Abay-abay from ABM 12 C.

On the recent stage play performed by the Letran SHS Impresarios Club entitled, Staged 2: The Musicale, a special commendation was given to Maria Michaela San Jose from ABM 12D.

Lastly, for the Literature and Language Quiz Bee, the winners are Marcelli Buen from STEM 11 C for 3rd place, Lance Patrick Caro for 2nd place from ABM 12 C and Cristalyn Opis from STEM 11 F placed in 1st.

This event has concluded and has marked the success of the celebration of Language Month 2020.
