Logging into Zoom

Laptop: First, if you haven't already installed it, download the Zoom app for your laptop. Open the Zoom app, and click on "Sign In". Next, click the "SSO" button with a key icon, and in the little window, type sfusd in the box. Click "Continue" and type your LCSD email address and password. You will be asked to open the Zoom app again, and once it opens, check to make sure you're logged in with your LCSD account by looking in the top right corner.

iPad: First, if you haven't already installed it, download the Zoom app for your iPad. Open the Zoom app, and tap "Sign In". Next, tap the "SSO" button with a key icon, and in the little window. Tap "Go" on your iPad keyboard, and then type your LCSD email address and password. You will be asked to open the Zoom app again, and once it opens, check to make sure you're logged in with your LCSD account by looking in the top left corner.

Joining a Zoom meeting

You can join a Zoom meeting with a meeting link or with the meeting ID and password.

I have a meeting link

Click on the link to join the meeting. Another tab will open and a small window will appear. Click on “Open zoom.us”. This will open your Zoom app, and another small window will appear with the name of the meeting until the teacher lets you into the meeting.

I have a meeting ID and password

Laptop: Open Zoom app on your laptop, and make sure you are logged in with your LCSD account. Go to the Home tab, and click the "Join" button. Type the meeting ID and password to join the meeting. A small window will appear with the name of the meeting until the teacher lets you into the meeting.

iPad: Open the Zoom app on your iPad, and make sure you are logged in with your LCSD account. Tap the "Join" button, and type the Meeting ID and Password. A small window will appear with the name of the meeting until the teacher lets you into the meeting.

Helpful buttons in Zoom

Microphone button - Look for the microphone button to turn your microphone on and off. You may need to click (or tap) on the screen first to see this button.

Video button - Use this video button to turn your video on and off.

Having trouble with audio or video? Having trouble logging in?

If the video or audio is breaking up, you can sometimes make it better by turning off your video. Look for the video button (see picture above) to turn the video off.

If it's hard to hear the person who is talking, you can call into the meeting with a phone. On the lower left side next to the microphone button, there is an arrow pointing up (^). Click on the arrow, and you can click "Switch to phone audio".

If you can't join a meeting with the link or with the meeting ID and password, sometimes you are logged into the wrong account. Make sure you are on your LCSD account. Open the Zoom app on your laptop or iPad, and click on the profile picture at the top right (laptop) or top left (iPad) of the app. This will tell you which account you are using in Zoom, and you need to use your LCSD account to join a teacher's meeting.
