I am the 7-12 Principal for the Leopold School District.
I began my career in education in 2009 as a high school mathematics teacher at Scott County Central High School. Wanting to move closer to home, I accepted a position at Jackson Junior High School, where I spent the majority of my time teaching Algebra I to eighth- and ninth-grade students. During my years at Jackson, I also had the opportunity to co-teach in an inclusion classroom, an experience that strengthened my belief that every student can succeed when given the right support and opportunities. After nine years at the junior high, I transitioned to Jackson High School, bringing my total time with Jackson R-2 Schools to 16 years.
During my final six years at Jackson, I was honored to serve as the district's Curriculum Director for Mathematics, first for grades 5–8 and later for grades 5–12. In that role, I worked alongside teachers to develop curriculum, improve instruction, and ensure that mathematical concepts were accessible to all learners. Supporting teachers and helping students experience success has always been one of the most rewarding aspects of my career and remains a true passion of mine.
When the opportunity arose to serve as principal in my hometown, I knew it was exactly where I wanted to be. Leopold is the community that raised me, and this school played an important role in shaping who I am today. I have lived here for most of my life, and it is both an honor and a privilege to return home and serve the students, staff, and families of the district that gave me so much. I am excited for the opportunity to give back to this community and help build on the strong tradition of excellence that makes Leopold such a special place. Go Wildcats!
My husband and I are blessed with three children—two sons, Nash and Thad, and our daughter, Natalee. This year is especially exciting because Nash and Thad will be attending Leopold as eighth- and fifth-grade students. They are thrilled to become Leopold Wildcats, and our family is excited to experience this new chapter together.
Our daughter, Natalee, is 20 years old. She recently completed cosmetology school and is currently working toward earning her cosmetology license. We are incredibly proud of her as she begins her career.
As a family, we love spending time outdoors. Fishing, swimming, all sports, or exploring new places together, we enjoy making memories as a family. One of our favorite things to do together is visiting our country's National Parks. We love experiencing the incredible natural beauty found across the United States and making lasting memories while exploring some of our nation's most breathtaking landscapes.
One of the things that makes our family unique is our passion for competitive archery. We travel several times each year to compete in national tournaments. While my husband and sons are the competitors, Natalee and I proudly fill the role of their biggest fans!
When life slows down during the winter months, you'll often find me curled up by the fireplace with a good book and a mug of coffee. Those quiet moments are the perfect way to relax and recharge before the next adventure.
