Manor Park Primary Academy School has a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. This responsibility necessitates a child protection policy and procedures which are available to view on the website, or a copy can be requested from the School Office. Our designated Child Protection Officers are Ms. Thomas and Ms. Laing. Information may need to be shared with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. Manor Park Primary Academy is committed to gender, racial, religion and disability equality in every part of school life.
If your child is unwell and will not be coming to school, please inform the office by 9.30 am via the School Website Reporting Absence Link.
If you are unsure whether your child needs to be at home, for example after the initial symptoms of illness have eased, bring them to the school office and we will be happy to monitor them and call you if necessary. Report your child
We often find that being in school and seeing their friends takes their mind off feeling a little under the weather.
If your child has been prescribed antibiotics, and needs to take it throughout the day, please bring the antibiotic to the school office and complete the administer medicine form and the school office will be more than happy help.
We wanted to remind you that arriving on time is extremely important for a child as it ensures a good start to their day and to their learning. It enables them to see their friends or chat to other children in the playground before school and it also enhances their confidence and their social skills.
For Years 1 - 6, school gates open from 08:30 am and close at 08:45 am. If you child were to arrive after this, they may miss registration and vital learning for that day.
Ensure that your child has a good bedtime routine and a nutritious breakfast in the morning to set them up for the start of the day.
Allow enough time for your journey to school.
Always have a back-up plan if a problem arises-a family member or another parent who could bring your child to school in the morning.
Non Nut School / Packed Lunch And Water Bottles Reminder
At Manor Park, we are sensitive to the catering needs of children with specific dietary needs, including religious considerations.
We kindly remind all parents and carers that packed lunches must NOT include nuts or products that contain nuts (i.e. NO Nutella and NO peanut butter), as we are a NUT FREE SCHOOL. Due to several children and members of staff with a nut allergy and who require the use of Epipens, we kindly remind you to adhere to this policy.
Secondly, all drinks should be water only (no squash) in a plastic bottle, NO GLASS, a carton of juice (with their lunch) or milk. An example of a recommended lunch box could be a chicken salad wrap, an apple, yogurt, a low sugar flap jack and a drink of water.
Please ensure that all dental and G.P. appointments are made after school wherever possible to minimise gaps in your child's learning. We require a copy of letters for hospital appointments, visits to embassies or passport offices, and high school entrance exams to enable us to authorise these appointments. Where necessary, we are able to photocopy the original documents, and return as required.
Please may we remind you that your child/ren need to be picked up promptly at the end of their school day.
Morning nursery finishes at 11.30 am and we politely remind parents that the children need to be collected on time as staff have to prepare for the afternoon session as well as have their lunch.
Afternoon nursery finishes at 3.15 pm and again we politely remind parents to promptly collect their children from nursery at that time.
For Year's 1 - 6 see as follows: Year 1, 2 & 3 - 3:30 pm, and 2:15 pm on a Friday; Year 4, 5 & 6 is 3:40 pm, and 2:25 pm on a Friday
If your children attend an after school club, they need to be picked up from school promptly at 4.30 pm.
The school office closes at 4.30 pm and the teachers have other commitments that they need to attend to.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Can we please remind all parents that school workshops and trips rely on the contributions of parents in order for the trips/workshops to go ahead and unfortunately these may be cancelled if we do not receive payments.
If you are having any difficulties making the payments, please contact the school office to discuss this further.
Thank you so much for your support.
Reminder For Parents Regarding Injuries Outside of School Hours
If your child injures themselves outside of school i.e in a sporting activity or even whilst playing and they required hospital treatment or a GP visit to check the injury, please come into the school office on their return to school so that we can assess if we need to put measures into place to help them whilst in school.
If the injury happens at school, and we are aware of it, and would naturally follow up a child's well-being and the outcome of any doctor or hospital check. However, if it happens outside of school hours we would not necessarily know which is why it is very important to come into the office to pass on such information. Thank you.

LEO Foundation Mufti-Day Success
This week, Manor Park Primary School participated in the LEO Foundation Charity mufti-day, joining other LEO schools in this fundraising effort. Our pupils showed their incredible generosity by coming to school in their own clothes and donating money to this worthy cause.
The funds raised will be split between supporting school initiatives and benefiting projects within our local community. Thank you to all our pupils and their families for their enthusiastic support of this special day!
Wonderverse Poetry Competition Success in Year 3
We are delighted to share the wonderful news that Sylvia, Year 3 Emerald class recently achieved great success in the Wonderverse Poetry Competition. Her poem was selected from numerous entries to be awarded first place and published. Sylvia's poem, which explored the power of imagination and being yourself, impressed the judges with its creativity and inspiring message. Well done, Sylvia! The whole school is incredibly proud of your achievement.
Here is a section from Sylvia's winning poem:
"Let your imagination run wild, Not simply what you are told, Be yourself and nobody else, Live the magical life you behold."
EYFS & Reception Continue Exceptional Provision This Week!
Reception Class have had a busy and colourful week! They have been exploring colour mixing, creating a whole rainbow of new shades from the primary colours. What a wonderful way to develop their artistic skills! The children have also been working hard on their reading skills, using their phonics to follow clues and find Little Bo Peep's lost sheep. This imaginative activity helped them to practise their reading in a fun and engaging way.
In EYFS, we launched our exciting new topic, 'Starry Night', with a cosy PJ day. Everyone enjoyed a tasty hot chocolate treat while discussing their bedtime routines. We look forward to exploring this topic further in the coming weeks.

Complaints Policy and Parent Code of Conduct
We are committed to providing a positive and supportive learning environment for all our pupils. To ensure we maintain clear and effective communication and address any concerns raised, we have recently reviewed and updated our school complaints policy.
This revised policy outlines the procedures for raising a concern or making a formal complaint, ensuring a fair and transparent process for all parties involved.
The updated complaints policy is now available to view on our school website: Manor Park School Policies. We encourage all parents to familiarise themselves with this document.
We believe that open communication between home and school is crucial for the success of our children. This revised policy aims to provide a clear framework for addressing any concerns and ensuring a positive partnership between parents and the school.

Parenting Support Offer
We know that being a parent can be both rewarding and challenging, and we all need a helping hand at times.
Knowing where to go and who to turn to can be vital to getting that help early and preventing further escalation.
Our parenting support programmes are a source of support for all parents and carers and offer an opportunity to share parenting experiences, develop a greater understanding of child development, build positive relationships and learn skills to deal with challenging behaviour.
What support can I get as a parent/carer and what do we offer in Sutton?
Please see attached information booklet here from the London Borough of Sutton Family Hubs.
