Farewell & Thank you to Mrs Shapley
It is with a mixture of emotions that we bid a fond farewell to Mrs Shapley, who will retire on Wednesday 21st May after an incredible 15 years of dedicated service to our school. Throughout her time here, Mrs. Shapley has been an invaluable member of our team. She has often been the first smiling face to greet our parents, carers, visitors, and pupils, and her warm welcome and wonderful sense of humour have made a lasting positive impression on everyone who has walked through our doors. We know her kindness and dedication will be deeply missed. We are immensely grateful for Mrs. Shapley's unwavering commitment to our school and the positive impact she has had on countless staff, children and families over the years. We wanted to share our sincere appreciation for her hard work and dedication, and to wish her a very happy and fulfilling retirement.

Uniform Donation Request
As the seasons turn and our children continue to grow, we often find ourselves with outgrown school uniform items that are still in good condition. Instead of these perfectly usable clothes gathering dust in wardrobes, we have a wonderful opportunity to give them a new lease of life and support our school community!
We are requesting school uniform donations here at Manor Park Primary and would be incredibly grateful for any contributions of clean, good-quality uniform items your children may have outgrown.
What Items Are We Looking For?
We welcome donations of all items of our school uniform, including:
Jumpers and cardigans
Trousers and skirts
Polo shirts
Summer dresses
PE kit items (t-shirts, shorts, tracksuits)
School shoes (in good, wearable condition)
How Can You Help?
Donating is easy! Please ensure all items are clean and in good, wearable condition (no rips, significant stains, or missing buttons, please). You can drop off your donations at the school office between Monday 12th May and Friday 20th June.
Your kindness and generosity will make a real difference to our school community. Thank you in advance for your support in helping all our students look smart and feel confident!
A Week of Effort and Achievement for Year 6!
This week marked the successful completion of the Key Stage 2 SATs for our Year 6 pupils. We extend our warmest congratulations to them all for their tremendous effort, hard work, and commitment throughout this challenging period; they truly did themselves and their families proud. Our sincere thanks also go to all parents and adults for their invaluable support provided at home. To help prepare the pupils each day, they were treated to a healthy breakfast every morning. The children clearly enjoyed this start to the day, and the fruit salad proved a particular favourite. Well done to our amazing Year 6's!
Early Years' Exploration and Discovery
This week, our youngest learners in the Early Years foundation stage engaged in wonderful activities. Nursery children explored the fascinating world of plants, planting their own seeds and diligently caring for our school gardens by watering the growing greenery. Meanwhile, in Reception, excitement built as their caterpillars transformed into chrysalises, sparking anticipation for their emergence as butterflies. The children also applied their mathematical skills through a fun, practical session doubling ladybird spots with finger paint and created vibrant butterfly prints. These experiences provided rich opportunities for scientific observation, practical learning, and creative expression across both classes.
Rizzi-Inspired Creations in Year 1!
Earlier this week, our incredible Year 1 pupils showcased remarkable artistic talent in their creative studies. They engaged in a fascinating project exploring cardboard layering techniques inspired by the distinctive style of James Rizzi. The children focused intently on adding depth to their collages by carefully building up layers. Their innovative approach successfully transformed their artworks into impressive 3D pieces. The resulting creations were truly superb and demonstrated their growing skills as artists. Well done Year 1's.
Year 5 Innovate in LEGO Computing!
During the week, our Year 5 pupils thoroughly enjoyed an engaging computing lesson focused on robotics and programming. Working collaboratively in small groups, they utilised the school's Spike Lego boxes to undertake a challenging design and build task. Their objective was to construct functional hovering helicopters, requiring meticulous attention to detail. The children then progressed to coding their creations, demonstrating impressive logical thinking and problem-solving skills as they debugged their programmes. This hands-on session successfully fostered teamwork and computational thinking among the pupils.
Year 4 Football Competition
Earlier this week, our Year 4 boys' football team participated in the LEO Sports football competition. The boys displayed admirable teamwork throughout the tournament, supporting one another effectively on the pitch. It was particularly pleasing to observe their significant improvement in performance as the various games progressed. Their dedication and collaborative spirit were evident to all in attendance. We commend the boys for their excellent effort and positive attitude during the competition.
