Manor Park Primary Academy School has a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. This responsibility necessitates a child protection policy and procedures which are available to view on the website, or a copy can be requested from the School Office. Our designated Child Protection Officers are Ms. Thomas and Ms. Laing. Information may need to be shared with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. School Notices and Reminders
Important Reminder: Alternative Pick-Up Arrangements and Walking Home Alone
School email volume is high, so please plan ahead for after-school pick-up!
To ensure a smooth dismissal process and the safety of your child, we kindly ask for your cooperation with the following procedures:
Pick-up by unauthorised person: If someone other than your designated contact list will be collecting your child, please send a note to their class teacher that morning. This will allow the teacher to be aware and prepared for the alternate pick-up arrangement.
Year 5 & 6 Students Walking Home Alone: For students in Years 5 or 6 who are allowed to walk home by themselves after school and/or after clubs, written permission must be emailed to the school office at office@manorpark.sutton.sch.uk. This email should specify your child's name, class, and permission for walking home alone after school and clubs.
Same-day changes? If you need to grant permission for walking home alone on the same day, please write a note to the class teacher or call the school office directly.
Email processing time: Please be aware that emails may take up to 15 days to be processed. Same-day requests via email might not be received in time.
By following these simple steps, you can help us ensure a safe and efficient after-school dismissal for all our students.
Thank you for your cooperation!
SET and 11+ Exams
Please be informed that any Year 6 child attending an 11+ exam must provide the school office with an invitation letter from the High School. This letter will be used to mark the child's absence as authorised.
You can submit the invitation letter either via email or by providing a physical copy to the school office.
Please note that Manor Park Primary Academy can only authorise either the morning or the afternoon session of the exam itself and your child is expected to arrive at School for the other session.
If your child requires a school lunch on the day of the exam please let the office know as soon as possible.
Thank you for your cooperation.
After School Clubs
After School Clubs are up and running and uptake was excellent.
May we please remind you that your child should attend each week and if for some reason they have to miss a session. a note should be sent in to their class teacher that day. Clubs finish at 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and at 3.30pm on Friday -please ensure children are collected on time.
Children are not allowed to bring medication into school including non prescription items (like cough sweets) to administer themselves. We do not normally administer any medicines in school unless they are for a long term chronic condition such as asthma or if it is detrimental to a child's health if the medicines were not administered during the school day.
If your child requires medicine during the day, such as antibiotics, please ask your GP to prescribe dose frequencies which enable it to be taken outside school hours i.e before school after school and before bed. Alternatively, parents are welcome to come into school and administer medicines themselves, by arrangement with the office.
If a medicine needs to be administered during the school day, please come to the school office to discuss this and complete a permission form online.
If your child has an injury that has required hospital treatment (injured arm or leg, bang to the head or similar) please come to the school office on their return to school. We must assess how their injury will need to be managed in school and if anything needs to be put in place to support them.
Flu Vaccination
This autumn term, your child’s annual flu vaccination is on 8th October.
Please use the link provided below to access and complete one electronic consent form for each child in school to ensure your child receives their vaccination:
School Attendance Guidance
Manor Park Primary Academy strongly believes that good attendance will ensure that a child can take full advantage of what school has to offer and will gain the educational and social skills necessary for life. The expected level of attendance is 96% and above and awards are given out termly to every child in Reception to Year 6 who achieve a level of 98% or more during that term.
If a child’s attendance falls below the threshold of 90% (a level set by the Government and meaning that they have missed 38 sessions or 19 days of learning) they are monitored by the school and Borough School Attendance Services. Medical evidence may be required to support further absence and failure to comply may result in a fixed penalty notice being imposed. The Principal is unable to consider any request for leave for an emergency or exceptional circumstance if a child’s attendance is below that level. A child who misses 19 days (38 sessions) or more during an academic year will be classed as a persistently absent pupil and, over a five year period, a child whose attendance level is 90% or below would have missed half a year’s learning which will impact immensely on their education.
The school will not authorise time off for family holiday. Holidays should be taken during the school holiday periods and the Trust policy is that absence for holidays will not be authorised during term time and a Penalty Charge Notice may be applied.
'Exceptional circumstances' requests, although considered on a case by case basis will normally be refused. The exceptional circumstance should be of unique and significant emotional, educational and/or spiritual value to the child which outweighs the loss of teaching time. Leave should not be taken until the school has confirmed it has been approved. You may also discuss your request with Mrs Oliveira in the school office.
We wanted to remind you that arriving on time is extremely important for a child as it ensures a good start to their day and to their learning. It also enables them to see their friends, chat to their teacher and consolidate or extend their learning from the previous day.
Arriving late causes a child to feel embarrassed and unsettled and can also be very disruptive to the class who may have already started their learning or gone into the hall for assembly. If a child arrives after registers have closed at 9.15am, this becomes an unauthorised absence on their attendance record.
Registration takes place at 8.45am and the children should be in class by then. Some of our children are arriving after 9.00am and by the time they hang their coats up and place lunch boxes on the racks, they are missing the start of the day.
Most of our late arrivals are only a few minutes late and we hope the following suggestions may help if you have difficulty getting your child(ren) to school on time.
Ensure that your child has a good bedtime routine and a nutritious breakfast in the morning to set them up for the start of the day.
Allow enough time for your journey to school.
Always have a back-up plan if a problem arises-a family member or another parent who could bring your child to school in the morning.

We want to share a truly heartwarming story from our very own Year 2 pupil, Lilium, who used her summer holidays to make a fantastic difference to others!
Over the six-week break, Lilium underwent a very special transformation. For her first-ever "real" haircut, she bravely had a whopping 15 inches cut off her beautiful long hair! But this wasn't just any haircut; Lilium generously donated all of it to The Princess Trust, a wonderful charity that creates real-hair wigs for children and young people who have lost their hair due to illness.
As if that wasn't amazing enough, Lilium also managed to raise an incredible £170 for the charity through her GoFundMe page! This fantastic amount will go directly to The Princess Trust to help them continue their vital work. Her GoFundMe page is still live if anyone wishes to contribute further. Please click on this link to contribute.
Lilium is incredibly proud to have given her hair away to another child in need, and we are all so unbelievably amazed at how compassionate and brave she has been. It takes a lot of courage to do something like this for the first time, and to do it for such a selfless cause is truly inspiring.
She is very excited to share her achievement with everyone at school and hopes her story inspires others to feel proud of themselves when they do anything that requires them to be brave too. What a wonderful example of kindness and bravery, Lilium!
This Week in Year 1
Year 1 pupils enjoyed the outdoor area this week, engaging in a variety of activities.
They took on the role of palaeontologists, carefully washing the dinosaurs.
The pupils became builders in the construction area, working together collaboratively.
They also practised their aim and coordination by shooting basketballs in the hoops.
Inside, the pupils showcased their artistic flair by making caterpillar chains from colourful paper. Some of the pupils created long and beautiful chains, with a few even featuring the colours of the rainbow.
This Week in Year 2
This week, our Year 2 pupils demonstrated exceptional focus and creativity in art.
They eagerly engaged in potato printing, carving shapes and using various coloured paints to create vibrant patterns. The pupils also learned about colour mixing by overlapping their prints, which led to the discovery of brand new hues.
Furthermore, our Year 2 scientists conducted a captivating experiment to understand the importance of hand washing. Using pepper to represent germs, they observed how the "germs" scattered instantly when soap was introduced to the water.
This Week in Year 3
Year 3 pupils had a wonderful week of learning, starting with their handwriting lessons.
They focused on joining the 'le' and 'ff' sounds, practising to write neatly within the lines.
The pupils also used their phonics skills to sound out unfamiliar words.
In art, they explored the concepts of warm and cool colours through various mark-making.
During their maths lessons, they became mathematicians, exploring place value by partitioning numbers to 100 into tens and ones using Base 10. This approach helped the pupils to successfully complete their part-whole models.
This Week in Year 4
This week, our Year 4 pupils have begun an immersive journey into the world of the Vikings.
They learned about the origins and travels of these historical people.
Pupils explored key artefacts, gaining a deeper understanding of Viking culture. Inspired by their findings, they were busy designing and crafting their own Viking-style brooches.
In English lessons, they began reading the epic tale of Beowulf and his heroic encounters as he battled the fabled Grendel, a mythological beast.
This fascinating story served as a springboard for writing detailed character descriptions, where they used OLEX Ai, an online learning tool to bring their descriptions to life.
This Week in Year 5
This week, our Year 5 pupils were immersed in a creative writing session, using an AI generator to craft amazing figurative language for their setting descriptions.
The pupils embraced the collaborative challenge of building the tallest paper tower, which taught them the importance of communication and a shared vision.
They transformed into artists, skilfully exploring tints and tones, and created their own colour swatches using oil pastels after analysing a landscape painting.
A scientific inquiry into air resistance saw the pupils meticulously measure and test parachutes, focusing on isolating a single variable for their experiment. The investigation revealed that lighter materials were more significantly affected by air resistance.
This Week in Year 6
This week, our Year 6 pupils, the newly appointed Junior Supremos, participated in their first training session. The pupils worked collaboratively to plan a fun activity, demonstrating great creativity and leadership.
The session was a valuable opportunity for our oldest pupils to prepare for their new responsibilities.
The training followed last week's assembly, where the Year 6 pupils received their special ties to mark their new role as role models.
It was a truly proud moment to see the pupils practice tying their ties and assist one another, showing the qualities of future leaders.
