Fond Farewells and New Beginnings

On Tuesday, 7th July, we were delighted to host our 'Meet the Teacher' event, giving parents, carers, and pupils a wonderful opportunity to connect with their new class teachers.

Looking ahead to September, we are excited to welcome several faces to our teaching team. We are delighted to welcome back Mrs O'Doherty, who will be returning from her maternity leave. Joining our team alongside her are, Miss Messett, Miss Huckle, Miss Snoddy, Ms Martin, and Ms Elmellas.

As outlined in our recent staff changes letter, we will also be saying goodbye to some valued team members at the end of this academic year: Mrs Kirk-Chan (Reception), Mrs Murray (Year 2), Mrs Pywell (Year 6 & Nursery), Miss Rana (Year 2), and Miss Heaton (Year 1). They are all moving on to pastures new and pursuing exciting new endeavours. Please join us in thanking them for their exceptional work, dedication, and commitment to the children of Manor Park Primary Academy.

Additionally, we want to say a huge thank you to Miss Tok, our administrative assistant, who is moving into a central Trust position. Her nurturing presence and warm smile have made our pupils, parents, and staff feel instantly welcomed every single day.

Please join me in extending our heartfelt thanks and very best wishes to all departing staff as they embark on their next chapters.

Last Day of Term - Collection Times for End of the Day

Friday 17th July is the final day of the summer term and the academic year.

Please be aware that all classes will finish at their usual Friday times except for Reception/Nursery who will finish 1 hour earlier than usual:

Jet Class will finish at 2.00pm;
Garnet Class will finish at 2.05pm
Aqua Class will finish at 2.10pm
Nursery Jewels and Blue Moon classes will finish at 2.15pm.

School returns for pupils on Wednesday 2nd September 2026 for Autumn Term.

Tuesday 1st September 2026: Whole School Inset Day / School Closed for pupils.

Extra Curricular Activities Before and After School

There are no clubs at all next week.

Sibling Club will also not take place on Friday 17th July due to early closure.

Year 6 Medication

As we approach the end of the school year, we require all Year 6 parents to collect any medication currently stored for your child in the school office.

Please note the important arrangements below:

Collection Date: Medication can only be collected on the last day of term directly from the school office.
Asthma Inhalers: If your child uses an asthma pump, they will be given this to bring home directly in their school bag on the last day of term. You do not need to collect these from the office.
Uncollected Medication: Any medication left behind after the final day of term will unfortunately have to be safely disposed of, as we cannot store it over the summer holidays.

Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring all medication is safely returned home. If you have any questions or queries, please feel free to contact the school office.

Lost Property

We have a large volume of lost property in the school. Next week, during the final week of the academic year, our lost property trolley will be on the playground at the end of the day. This will be your last opportunity to check it, if your child has lost any item in the last academic year. Unclaimed items at the end of last day of term, 19th July, will be cleared and donated to the 'Bertie Bin'.

Manor Park Celebrates Prestigious Regional Award Win!

We are absolutely thrilled to share wonderful news with our school community. Earlier this week, Manor Park Primary School was officially named the London and South East Regional Winner of the prestigious Alex Timpson Award from the Attachment Research Community (ARC).

This special award recognises schools that lead the way in attachment-aware and trauma-informed practice, celebrating our school for creating a safe, gentle, and nurturing environment where every single child feels valued, supported, and ready to learn. This fantastic achievement reflects the incredible hard work and commitment of our staff, our pupils, and our wider trust community. At Manor Park, we truly believe in putting positive relationships at the heart of everything we do.

Wondermaths - Celebrating Our Year 5 Mathematicians!

Earlier this week, a group of our talented Year 5 pupils represented Manor Park Primary Academy at the highly competitive Wondermaths finals. Out of more than one hundred schools that applied, only twelve places were available, and our pupils secured one of these top spots.

During the competition on Monday, the pupils faced a series of very demanding and complex mathematical challenges. Throughout every problem-solving round, they demonstrated great integrity, wonderful teamwork, and excellent behaviour.

We are thrilled to share that the event organisers specifically praised the Manor Park team. They highlighted our pupils for showing the absolute best resilience and most positive attitude toward mathematics across the entire competition.

Our pupils held their heads high under pressure, supported one another brilliantly, and represented our school values immaculately. We are incredibly proud of their achievements, hard work, and dedication!

Eco-Council - Celebrating Our Committee's Incredible Achievements!

This week, our wonderful Eco Committee held their final meetings of the academic year. During these sessions, the pupils worked collaboratively to write our official school Eco Code. They also used the digital design platform, Canva, to create beautiful posters to remind us all how to care for our environment.

In addition to their paperwork, the pupils rolled up their sleeves to improve our school grounds. They worked together as a team to plant a variety of kind donations in our garden beds, which have truly brightened up our outdoor spaces.

Following this brilliant work, the school will be submitting our final application for the prestigious Green Flag award. We hope to receive this top award with Distinction to reflect the high quality of our pupils' efforts.

A huge well done to our Eco Committee for all their hard work and dedication this year!

Key Stage 2 Cricket Finals Success!

This week, our fantastic Key Stage 2 cricket team took part in the prestigious Surrey Cricket Foundation Connellan Cricket finals. The pupils played exceptionally well throughout the tournament. Thanks to their brilliant teamwork and skill, they topped their group and reached the grand final. Unfortunately, the team narrowly lost the final match, finishing as proud runners-up. It was a wonderful achievement to reach this stage of the competition, and all of our pupils demonstrated excellent sportsmanship.

Well done to the whole team for representing our school so brilliantly!

This Week at Manor Park

EYFS: Nursery & Reception

In Phonics, pupils have worked hard to learn the 'o-e' and 'u-e' split digraphs (where two letters make one sound, split by another letter), as well as the alternative 'c' sound. During Phonics sessions, pupils practiced reading and writing words containing these new spelling patterns to help build their reading confidence.
In Mathematics, pupils reviewed their understanding of odd and even numbers by grouping objects into pairs. As part of their Mathematics lessons, pupils also practiced their number bonds to ten, which are the pairs of numbers that add together to make exactly ten.
During Topic lessons, pupils spent time reflecting on their wonderful year in Reception and shared their favourite memories, such as Beach Day and Sports Day. In Topic sessions, pupils also created beautiful memory jars and drew lovely portraits of their friends to celebrate their friendships.

This Week in Year 1

In Maths, pupils practised telling the time to the hour and half past, focusing on drawing the hands accurately on clock faces. As part of their English lessons, pupils used their scientific knowledge and recent experiences to plan and write informative texts about plants.
During Science, pupils launched their new topic on animal parts by carefully labelling the physical features of various creatures and grouping them according to these characteristics.
In Religious Education (RE), pupils explored how Hindus celebrate Diwali, learning about how families wear fine clothes, share delicious food, and listen to traditional music. As a creative continuation of RE, pupils applied their learning by designing and making traditional Diwali cards for their loved ones.
During an exciting Geography and Science trip, Amethyst class finally visited Morden Hall Park to explore the local natural environment. The children had a wonderful opportunity to use their knowledge and skills in the outdoors!

This Week in Year 2

During English, our pupils mastered using commas in a list before planning and writing their own creative newspaper reports based on the book The True Story of the Three Little Pigs.
In Maths, pupils successfully reviewed their key learning from across the year, strengthening their skills in number and place value, number facts, geometry, shapes, and money.
As part of their Design and Technology (DT) lessons, pupils launched an exciting new 'push and pull' project, where they explored how different machines and mechanisms work.
In Computing, pupils practiced their programming skills by participating in interactive Lego coding sessions to bring their models to life.
During a special physical education event, our pupils welcomed an inspirational visiting athlete to our school for an uplifting assembly and fitness activities.

This Week in Year 3

In English, pupils used their vivid imaginations to create and describe their very own magical fantasy settings using descriptive vocabulary.
As part of their History lessons, the pupils became detectives and explored various historical sources to investigate what clues they could find about daily life during Roman times. To develop their reading and historical enquiry skills, pupils compared different artefacts and texts during History to see how people lived long ago.
During Art, our pupils practiced their fine motor skills by learning the traditional technique of weaving to create their own unique fabric patterns. In their creative work, pupils carefully chose different materials and colours for their Art weaving projects, showcasing great patience and focus.
During a special sports event, the whole school enjoyed participating in an energetic fitness circuit led by the inspiring visiting athlete, Hannah Beharry. Following the athlete visit, pupils had the wonderful opportunity to listen to Hannah Beharry share her journey of determination and success, inspiring everyone to stay active.

This Week in Year 4

In English, pupils successfully completed the final drafts of their cultural stories and are now preparing to publish their completed writing for others to read.
As part of their Maths lessons, pupils developed their data and geometry skills by creating clear graphs to represent information accurately. During further Maths sessions, pupils mastered the use of coordinates, learning how to plot and read grid positions to locate different places on a map.
In History, pupils carefully examined a variety of historical artefacts to investigate how people lived in the past. As part of their History research, pupils analysed how the specific designs and materials of these ancient objects provide clear evidence of an individual's wealth and social status.
During our Sports Day, pupils thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful day of physical activities and competition in the warm weather, demonstrating excellent maturity by drinking water regularly to stay healthy and hydrated.

This Week in Year 5

In English, our pupils successfully drafted their final narrative myths, which were creatively based on the Greek gods they had designed themselves.
During Maths, pupils practiced converting between metric and non-metric units for mass, distance, and capacity to build their measurement skills.
Within History lessons, pupils collaborated to create their own podcasts, which excellently summarised everything they have learned about the Ancient Greeks.
In Design and Technology (DT), pupils applied their knowledge of architecture to build impressive miniature temples using recycled cardboard.
As part of our Sports Week, the school community reflected on the achievements of the Commonwealth Games and celebrated the spirit of teamwork. During a special sports assembly, our pupils welcomed a real athlete to the school, who shared an inspiring story about dedication and hard work.

This Week in Year 6

In Science, pupils explored the fascinating world of genetics and learned how to differentiate between inherited traits and acquired traits. In Science exploration, pupils applied their new vocabulary to explain how different physical characteristics are passed down through generations.
During Religious Education (RE), pupils studied Buddhism and thoughtfully compared its unique practices with other world religions. In their RE lessons, pupils also looked at shared values across the diverse religions represented throughout our Year 6 group.
As part of this year's Year 6 Production, 'The Lion King', pupils delivered two outstanding performances to parents, demonstrating that all of their hard work and dedication truly paid off. During the final Production showcase, the pupils co-operated beautifully to ensure both performances ran smoothly and successfully.

Summer in Sutton Challenge

We're excited to share that the Summer in Sutton Challenge is back for 2026, with a packed programme of FREE activities for children and families across Sutton Libraries and Museums throughout the summer holidays. The challenge encourages children to keep reading while also getting active, being creative, practising mindfulness and exploring everything Sutton has to offer. Children complete six activities over the summer, including at least two reading challenges, and those who finish will receive a certificate and be entered into a prize draw.

Alongside the challenge, we'll be hosting a wide range of free events including creative workshops, storytelling, crafts, dance, wellbeing activities and much more. There really is something for everyone, and we'd love to see as many local families taking part as possible. All events are designed to be fun, engaging and accessible for children across the borough.

Holiday Clubs

Summer Holiday Yoga for Kids & Teens

Help support your child's physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing this summer. Saraswati Yoga Studio (122 Robin Hood Lane, Sutton) is running weekly Wednesday classes incorporating meditation, postures, breathing, and relaxation.

Ages 5–9: Wednesdays, 3:30pm – 4:15pm

Sutton & Epsom RFC is hosting its popular annual Rugby Summer Camp this August, run by DBS-checked coaches. It is open to boys and girls from Reception to Year 10 (2025–26 academic year).

Coding & Robotics Summer Workshop

i2tech is hosting a high-tech, hands-on Summer Workshop for children ages 7–11 at Manor Park Primary School. Children will build real robots, tackle coding challenges, and earn a 'Junior Robotics Engineer' certificate.

Dates: Wednesday 5th August & Thursday 6th August 2026
Timings: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Parents invited at 2:45 PM for a live showcase)
Cost: £60 per day (Max 15 spots per day; includes a free robot car worth £30!)
Note: No prior experience or personal computers required. Please bring a packed lunch and a refillable drink bottle.

Our New School Charity Partner

The Paul Alan Project

We are thrilled to announce that for the upcoming academic year, Manor Park Primary School will be officially supporting The Paul Alan Project as our dedicated school charity. This is a fantastic opportunity for our children to learn about community safety, emergency skills, and the importance of quick action in critical situations.

The Paul Alan Project is a volunteer-run charity with the vital mission of saving lives through emergency preparedness. They are dedicated to preventing cardiac arrest deaths in the UK by focusing on three core areas:

Free Lifesaving Training: They provide FREE basic life support training (including how to perform CPR and confidently use a defibrillator) to individuals and organisations in the community.
Defibrillator Provision: They raise funds to install Public Access Defibrillators (PADs) and Bleed Control Kits in communities, particularly in parks and residential areas where provision is often poor.
Awareness: They raise awareness of the signs of cardiac arrest and the difference a quick response can make.

Our 2025/2026 Fundraising Goal: £2,000 for Manor Park

This money will be used to purchase and install a 24/7 Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) and a Bleed Control Kit in Manor Park. This vital equipment will be accessible to our entire local community, serving as a critical resource in a medical emergency.

How Manor Park Will Get Involved

Throughout the year, we will be holding various exciting events and activities designed to promote awareness and raise money for The Paul Alan Project. Details of these events will be shared with you soon.
