Year 6 Height and Weight
Every year in England, school children in Year 6 have their height and weight checked at school as part of the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP). Height and weight measurements are used to calculate weight status. The nursing team will be coming to Manor Park on Monday 11th November to collect this information to build a picture of how children are growing, to help plan better health and leisure services for families.
If you are happy for your child to be measured, you do not need to do anything. If you do not want your child’s height and weight to be measured, or your child has a medical condition that affects their height or weight, please let the nursing team know using the contact details provided below.
Healthy Child Programme Admin team
Telephone: 020 8770 5409
Email: hcpadmin@sutton.gov.uk
Children will not be made to take part on the day if they do not want to.
Thank you for your continued support.

We warmly invite all parents to attend as this is a fantastic opportunity to meet our dedicated Inclusion Team and discuss any questions or concerns you may have about your child's education.
No appointment necessary. We look forward to seeing you there!
School Uniform and Appearance
To maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, we kindly ask all students to adhere to our school uniform policy.
Key Points:
Neat and Tidy: Students should always look neat and tidy in their school uniform.
Tucked-in Shirts: Please ensure shirts are tucked in.
Appropriate Footwear: School shoes must be worn at all times. Trainers are not permitted.
Hair: Long hair should be tied back.
Jewellery: Only small, plain studs are allowed. Remove all jewellery for contact sports and swimming.
No Nail Polish: Please note that nail polish is not permitted.
Label Everything: To minimize lost property, please label all belongings with your child's name.
We appreciate your support in ensuring your child complies with our uniform policy. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us.
By working together, we can maintain a positive and productive learning environment for all.
Christmas Lunch
Christmas is fast approaching and to celebrate, the children are invited to celebrate our Christmas Lunch on Wednesday, 4th December 2024, in the school hall.
Please see our festive Christmas Lunch menu on the attached flyer. An email containing all the information has been sent home today.
The deadline to complete the google forms is by 4.00pm on Friday, 22nd November 2024, in order to give our LEO Catering Team enough time to order the food in advance.
Should you have any queries, please contact Miss Tok in the School Office, on 020 8642 0144, who will be more than happy to help you.
If your child is unwell and will not be coming to school, please inform the office by 9.30 am via the School Website Reporting Absence Link. If you are unsure whether your child needs to be at home, for example after the initial symptoms of illness have eased, bring them to the school office and we will be happy to monitor them and call you if necessary. We often find that being in school and seeing their friends takes their mind off feeling a little under the weather.
Please can we politely remind you of the importance of parking safely around the school entrances. Parking is strictly prohibited outside the school gates and our children's safety is compromised by anyone who stops on the zigzag lines or on the corner of Warwick and Greyhound Road. We also ask you to be considerate of our neighbours in surrounding roads and therefore not to park across driveways at drop off and pick up times. They, too, could be parents who need to collect children from school and would be unable to get their car off the drive. Thank you for your co-operation.

Regional Director for DFE Visits Manor Park
We were delighted to welcome Claire Burton, Regional Director for London for the Department For Education (DFE), to Manor Park Primary this week.
Ms. Burton was incredibly impressed with our outstanding practice in teaching and learning, and particularly interested in our innovative use of technology to support all learners, especially those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). She observed lessons, toured our facilities, and spoke with staff and pupils, gathering valuable insights into how technology can be integrated effectively to personalise learning and create an inclusive environment. Ms. Burton was particularly keen to learn how our successful strategies could be shared to benefit other schools across the country.
We are proud to be recognised as a leading example of best practice in education and look forward to collaborating with other schools to share our expertise.
Cooking Experience in Year 6
Year 6 had a blast baking bread this week as they kneaded, shaped, and baked their very own loaves. The experience wasn't just about creating tasty treats; it was a hands-on lesson in science, mathematics, and the art of following instructions.
This activity wasn't just a fun break from the usual routine; it provided a valuable opportunity for pupils to develop essential life skills. From measuring ingredients and understanding the science of rising dough to problem-solving and collaborating with their peers, the children gained practical knowledge that extends beyond the classroom. Who knows, we may have even inspired some future bakers!
Reception Enjoy Puppet Show
This week, Reception had the pleasure of watching a traditional Punch and Judy puppet show. The children were captivated by the antics of the puppets and thoroughly enjoyed the show. This was a great way to kick off our new topic, "Pop Up Puppets." The children have been busy making their own puppets and learning about the history of puppetry.
We are all looking forward to seeing the creative puppet shows that the children will be putting on in the coming weeks.
Keeping Safe Online Workshop for KS2
Our Key Stage 2 pupils had a visit from local police officers this week to learn about online safety. The officers talked about using the internet responsibly, including creating strong passwords and protecting personal information. The children learned how to spot inappropriate content and cyberbullying and who to tell if they feel unsafe online.
Year 6 had extra time to discuss social media and online gaming safety.
We hope this visit helps our pupils make good choices online and encourage you to discuss online safety at home, too!
SSP Multi Skills Festival
This morning, a group of our talented Year 5 & 6 pupils participated in the Sutton Sports Partnership (SSP) Multi-Skills Festival. The children had a fantastic time rotating through a circuit of exciting sports sessions, including tennis, hockey, cricket, and squash.
It was wonderful to see our pupils embrace new challenges with enthusiasm and display such brilliant teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the morning.
A huge well done to all involved!
KS2 Boys Football League Action
This week, our amazing boys' football team took to the field for a thrilling league match. Despite facing tough competition, the boys demonstrated incredible teamwork and resilience throughout the game. They supported each other on the pitch, made some fantastic tackles and never gave up even when faced with challenges. The final score may not have gone our way this time, but the boys' sportsmanship and determination shone through. Well done to the whole team for their fantastic effort and for representing our school with such pride! We are incredibly proud of your performance and your positive attitudes.
