School Notices and Reminders
Year 6 - SAT's Tests - Monday 11th May - Thursday 14th May
As you are all no doubt aware, KS2 SAT's week is next week - the week commencing Monday 11th May. We are incredibly proud of how hard all our pupils have worked in the build-up for the tests. They are certainly well-prepared, ready and should feel very confident. Please encourage them to rest, relax and have fun this weekend.
Next week, please ensure your child arrives at school on time.
Absence: If for any reason, your child is sick during this week, you MUST complete the absence form and/or email the school office office@manorpark.sutton.sch.uk as soon as possible and no later than 8.30 am so that the office and teachers can make new arrangements for your child to sit these tests.
During SAT's week, the children can bring a piece of fruit or a healthy snack for break time and a water bottle to keep them hydrated during the tests themselves.
In addition, we will be running our breakfast club for Year 6 pupils from 7.45 am, Monday to Thursday, for a donation of £5.00 for the week. Most Year 6 children have signed up for the Breakfast Club. Please encourage your child to do so if they are undecided as this will give them a very positive start to their day.
Please encourage your child to;
Get a good night’s sleep.
Make sure they arrive in school on time.
Remember to bring a water bottle into school.
Bring a piece of fruit for a mid-morning snack.
Above all, relax, don’t worry and do their best.
Universal Breakfast Club (11/05/26 - 14/05/26)
From Monday, 11th May to Thursday, 14th May, the Universal Breakfast Club will be held in Amethyst Class instead of the Studio, which is being reserved for our Year 6 students as they prepare for their upcoming SATs during these four days.
If your child is attending the Universal Breakfast Club between 08:15 to 08:30, please bring them to the Summer Door by the Studio; from there, a member of staff will meet them and escort them to Miss Brooker in Amethyst Class.
We appreciate your support in helping us create a calm and focused environment for our Year 6 learners during this important week.
Early Morning Clubs - Changes to Year 6 Due to SATs
For next week only, commencing 11th May, early morning clubs for Year 6 will not be running due to SAT's.
Clubs for Year 6 will return to normal the following week, commencing 18th May.
During SATs week, the Year 6 team will be hosting a SAT's breakfast club for pupils who have signed up previously. This will be running from Monday to Thursday from 7:45 am, where Year 6 pupils will have the chance to have breakfast from a range of options, relax and prepare themselves for the day ahead. If you have not signed your child up to the SATs breakfast, please speak to a member of the office Staff.
If your child attends an early morning club and is not in Year 6, then all clubs will run as usual.
Transfer To Secondary School Open Days for Year 5 Parents

Please note that some schools have ticketed open evenings, with tickets available online to book.
Uniform Donation Request
As the seasons turn and our children continue to grow, we often find ourselves with outgrown school uniform items that are still in good condition. Instead of these perfectly usable clothes gathering dust in wardrobes, we have a wonderful opportunity to give them a new lease of life and support our school community!
We are requesting school uniform donations here at Manor Park Primary and would be incredibly grateful for any contributions of clean, good-quality uniform items your children may have outgrown.
What Items Are We Looking For?
We welcome donations of all items of our school uniform, including:
Jumpers and cardigans with Logo
Trousers and skirts
Polo shirts
Summer dresses
PE kit items (t-shirts, shorts, tracksuits)
School shoes (in good, wearable condition)
How Can You Help?
Donating is easy! Please ensure all items are clean and in good, wearable condition (no rips, significant stains, or missing buttons, please). You can drop off your donations at the school office between Monday 11th May and Friday 19th June.
Your kindness and generosity will make a real difference to our school community. Thank you in advance for your support in helping all our students look smart and feel confident!
Walk to School Week! (May 18–22)
We are excited to join the nationwide Walk to School Week! This initiative by Living Streets encourages pupils to enjoy an active commute, helping them arrive at school focused, healthy, and ready to learn.
Every year group has a special mission to complete:
EYFS: Fun 'Little Feet' booklets and a collective classroom sticker wall.
KS1 & KS2: Individual activity diaries featuring "secret agents" and daily progress logs.
We want the whole school community moving! If you live too far to walk the whole way, you can still participate via:
Park & Stride: Park 5–10 minutes away and walk the final stretch.
Friendship Drop-off: Drop your child at a friend’s house nearby to walk together.
By reducing traffic at the gates, we create a safer, cleaner environment for everyone. Let’s work together to reach those active travel goals and earn some end-of-week rewards!

It has been a wonderful week of discovery and growth for our youngest learners. Our pupils have shown great enthusiasm across all areas of the curriculum:
During their Topic lessons, Nursery pupils explored the concept of emotions and reflections by creating expressive self-portraits and investigating a variety of shiny objects. In Maths, Nursery pupils developed their understanding of weight by comparing objects to see if they were heavy, light, or balanced. During Phonics, pupils in Nursery focused on the alphabet and successfully learned the new sound ‘g’.
As part of their Topic work, Reception pupils investigated the environment of the rainforest and correctly sorted different animals into their farm or jungle habitats. In Science, Reception pupils observed nature closely as their classroom caterpillars began the fascinating process of forming cocoons. During Maths, Reception pupils practised the concept of doubling by creating beautiful symmetrical butterflies and ladybirds with matching spots. In Phonics, Reception pupils progressed to using advanced digraphs and trigraphs to build complete words and sentences.
It has been a productive and busy week of learning for all our children. Here are the key activities our pupils completed:
During English lessons, the pupils studied the poem ‘Where Do All the Teachers Go?’ and composed their own creative verses using rhyming couplets to imagine life after school for their teachers. In Maths, the children developed their understanding of fractions by successfully finding half of various shapes and amounts. As part of their Maths work, the pupils also progressed to identifying and finding quarters of different geometric shapes.
In History, the classes researched the significant individual Samuel Wilderspin, who is known as the founder of infant education and the inventor of the school playground. During Religious Education (RE), the pupils explored Hinduism by learning about the features and importance of the Mandir. As part of their outdoor learning, the children participated in Forest School sessions to develop their teamwork and appreciation for nature.
It has been an incredibly busy and successful week at our school, with our pupils demonstrating exceptional dedication to their studies and extra-curricular activities. Here are some of the key highlights from the past few days:
In English, pupils enjoyed reading the book ‘The Corgi and the Queen’, researched the life of King Charles III, and practised using conjunctions to create different sentence types. During Maths, the children began a new topic on statistics where they learned how to record data using tally charts, block diagrams, and pictograms.
As part of their History lessons, pupils explored the reign of King Henry VIII, debating the positive and negative impacts of his rule and learning about his six wives. In Science, the classes investigated how human actions affect animal habitats and discussed what is needed for animal survival. In Physical Education, the pupils in Coral Class showed great progress and confidence as they completed their final swimming session of the term.
During a special music trip, thirty pupils from across the school visited All Saint’s Primary School for a 'Big Sing' rehearsal to practise their choir songs.
It has been a highly productive and purposeful week of learning across the school. Our pupils have demonstrated great curiosity and dedication to their studies. Below are the key highlights from our classrooms:
During English, pupils researched the life of the historical figure Boudicca. Also in English, the pupils used their research to prepare notes for a biography they will write next week. In Mathematics, pupils practiced finding fractions of an amount to solve complex problems.
As part of their Science lessons, pupils investigated how water affects the growth of a plant. In Science, the pupils used celery stalks to observe and track the changes in growth over several days. Furthermore, in Science, pupils studied the different stages of plant life cycles.
Across all subjects, our pupils showed excellent focus and developed a deeper understanding of these new topics.

As part of their Science lessons, pupils investigated thermal conductivity by using special 'Thermacolour' sheets to observe heat transferred from their hands.
In Computing, the classes discussed the importance of being responsible 'Digital Citizens' and how to use technology safely. During their Online Safety work, pupils created detailed comic strips demonstrating how to be an 'upstander' when identifying and dealing with cyberbullying.
Across all subjects, the pupils demonstrated excellent collaborative skills and a formal tone in their written and oral presetations this week.
It has been an incredibly industrious week for our Year 6 pupils as they demonstrated great focus and creativity across the curriculum.
During English, pupils applied their research skills to draft detailed non-chronological reports on personal areas of interest, ranging from the history of Disney to technical facts about World War II aircraft. In English, pupils carefully organised their reports into clear sections, ensuring that their chosen topics, such as football clubs or different countries, were presented informatively for their readers.
As part of their Grammar, Punctuation, and Spelling (GPS) lessons, the children refined their writing by mastering the use of relative pronouns and adverbial phrases to add detail and cohesion to their sentences. In their GPS practice, pupils identified how shifting the position of an adverbial phrase can change the emphasis of a sentence, showcasing their evolving linguistic skills.
In Mathematics, pupils engaged in a rigorous revision of key concepts to ensure they are prepared for the upcoming SATs, with a specific focus on solving complex reasoning-style problems. During Mathematics sessions, pupils worked collaboratively to unpick multi-step word problems, building their confidence in explaining their mathematical thinking.

We are thrilled to announce that for the upcoming academic year, Manor Park Primary School will be officially supporting The Paul Alan Project as our dedicated school charity. This is a fantastic opportunity for our children to learn about community safety, emergency skills, and the importance of quick action in critical situations.
The Paul Alan Project is a volunteer-run charity with the vital mission of saving lives through emergency preparedness. They are dedicated to preventing cardiac arrest deaths in the UK by focusing on three core areas:
Free Lifesaving Training: They provide FREE basic life support training (including how to perform CPR and confidently use a defibrillator) to individuals and organisations in the community.
Defibrillator Provision: They raise funds to install Public Access Defibrillators (PADs) and Bleed Control Kits in communities, particularly in parks and residential areas where provision is often poor.
Awareness: They raise awareness of the signs of cardiac arrest and the difference a quick response can make.
Our 2025/2026 Fundraising Goal: £2,000 for Manor Park
This money will be used to purchase and install a 24/7 Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) and a Bleed Control Kit in Manor Park. This vital equipment will be accessible to our entire local community, serving as a critical resource in a medical emergency.
How Manor Park Will Get Involved
Throughout the year, we will be holding various exciting events and activities designed to promote awareness and raise money for The Paul Alan Project. Details of these events will be shared with you soon.
