Year 6 Height and Weight
Every year in England, school children in Year 6 have their height and weight checked at school as part of the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP). Height and weight measurements are used to calculate weight status. The nursing team will be coming to Manor Park on Monday 10th November to collect this information to build a picture of how children are growing, to help plan better health and leisure services for families.
If you are happy for your child to be measured, you do not need to do anything. If you do not want your child’s height and weight to be measured, or your child has a medical condition that affects their height or weight, please let the nursing team know using the contact details provided below.
Healthy Child Programme Admin team

Children will not be made to take part on the day if they do not want to.
Thank you for your continued support.

Early Years Coffee Morning
On Wednesday 19th November from 09:00 am, our Miss Bailey, our Family Support Worker, will be hosting an Early Years Coffee Morning where you are to free to come along and meet other parents/carers and look at various ways to support your children and your family.
This will also be an opportunity to meet Home-Start, a voluntary organisation committed to support the welfare of families with young children.
The Coffee Morning will take place in the School Hut, located in the main school playground with refreshments alongside information and advice available.
If your child is unwell and will not be coming to school, please inform the office by 9.15am via the School Website Reporting Absence Link.
If you are unsure whether your child needs to be at home, for example after the initial symptoms of illness have eased, bring them to the school office and we will be happy to monitor them and call you if necessary.
We often find that being in school and seeing their friends takes their mind off feeling a little under the weather.
As the Christmas holidays approach, can we please remind you that family holidays must be taken during school holidays only and should not be extended either side of the school holiday dates. Any time taken off to extend holidays will be unauthorised and a fixed penalty notice may be applied. Thank you for your co-operation in ensuring that your child attends school every day, enabling them to receive the best education we can provide.
Also, in accordance with the Trust’s Attendance Policy, requests for leave for an emergency or exceptional circumstance should be made one month prior to the dates required, whenever possible (we understand that this is not always possible in the case of an emergency). Additionally, we also require a copy of flight details (outbound and inbound) to support the request if travel abroad is required. Thank you.
Please try to make dental and GP appointments after school wherever possible to minimise gaps in your child's learning.
We require a copy of letters for hospital appointments, visits to embassies or passport offices and high school entrance exams to enable us to authorise these appointments . We can copy the original documents, if necessary.
Also, if you have a personal appointment please could you make the necessary arrangements to ensure that this does not impact your child's attendance and school time.
We are thrilled to announce that for the upcoming academic year, Manor Park Primary School will be officially supporting The Paul Alan Project as our dedicated school charity. This is a fantastic opportunity for our children to learn about community safety, emergency skills, and the importance of quick action in critical situations.
The Paul Alan Project is a volunteer-run charity with the vital mission of saving lives through emergency preparedness. They are dedicated to preventing cardiac arrest deaths in the UK by focusing on three core areas:
Free Lifesaving Training: They provide FREE basic life support training (including how to perform CPR and confidently use a defibrillator) to individuals and organisations in the community.
Defibrillator Provision: They raise funds to install Public Access Defibrillators (PADs) and Bleed Control Kits in communities, particularly in parks and residential areas where provision is often poor.
Awareness: They raise awareness of the signs of cardiac arrest and the difference a quick response can make.
Our 2025/2026 Fundraising Goal: £2,000 for Manor Park
This money will be used to purchase and install a 24/7 Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) and a Bleed Control Kit in Manor Park. This vital equipment will be accessible to our entire local community, serving as a critical resource in a medical emergency.
How Manor Park Will Get Involved
Throughout the year, we will be holding various exciting events and activities designed to promote awareness and raise money for The Paul Alan Project. Details of these events will be shared with you soon.
How You Can Help Now
We warmly invite our entire school community to support this life-saving cause supporting an upcoming events. If you would like to contribute immediately, you can make a donation via our dedicated charity page:

This Week in Nursery & Reception
Nursery pupils engaged in expressive language development by learning and retelling the classic story of 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'.
In Mathematics, Nursery pupils successfully explored measurement concepts, building towers and grasping the comparative terms 'longer' and 'shorter' related to length.
Nursery pupils participated enthusiastically in their very first Physical Education (PE) lesson, displaying excellent effort and following instructions with great success.
Reception pupils were delighted by a special visit to support their 'pop up puppets' topic, enjoying an amazing performance of a Punch and Judy puppet show.
The focused topics in both classes provided engaging, cross-curricular learning experiences, promoting both literacy and mathematical understanding.
All young pupils demonstrated positive participation and commendable behaviour during these valuable learning activities and special events.
This Week in Year 1!
Year 1 pupils successfully completed self-portrait collages in Art, focusing intently on replicating diverse skin and hair tones and accurate facial features by layering paper.
The pupils demonstrated excellent attention to detail and skill when working with coloured paper squares to construct their portraits, which employed a challenging mosaic-style technique.
In Design and Technology , Year 1 pupils engaged in a hands-on junk modelling project. The task involved designing and constructing prototypes for pet shelters, which required careful thought about creating strong, stable structures.
Pupils successfully considered how their designs would protect animals from weather and predators, demonstrating excellent problem-solving in their technical work.
This Week in Year 2!
Our Year 2 pupils demonstrated fantastic dramatic skills by using freeze frames to explore the new text, "A Way Back Home," enhancing their understanding of the story. We celebrated the Year 2 pupils' engagement with storytelling and their ability to express narrative through performance techniques.
In Science, pupils investigated different habitats and learned about their vital role in supporting the plants and animals that live within them. Pupils made excellent progress in classifying and explaining the importance of natural environments in their Science lessons.
Mathematics saw Year 2 pupils successfully complete their end-of-topic assessment on addition and subtraction using a fun, interactive Kahoot quiz. The interactive quiz format in Maths ensured a positive and successful review of key concepts in number operations for all participants.
This Week in Year 3!
In English, Year 3 pupils successfully completed a captivating "Mission Possible" activity, working in teams, including Emerald Class and "Llama Drama," to solve clues and locate a missing llama named Kevin.
In Maths, the pupils effectively used their collaboration and problem-solving abilities to follow a series of clues, complete challenges, and deduce the details of the 'who, how, and where' of the imaginary scenario.
As part of their History Focus, Year 3 pupils participated in an immersive practical history session focused on the Stone Age.
In Art and Design Technology (DT), the pupils explored various techniques to craft their own replica 'Bell Beaker' pottery, learning about historical methods and patterns. The session allowed pupils to use natural items to create authentic patterns on their pottery, mirroring the artistic practices of the Stone Age period.
This Week in Year 4!
In English, Year 4 pupils commenced their new topic by investigating newspaper articles, focusing on the features of effective headlines, supporting facts, and direct quotes. This English work prepared the pupils for the exciting task of becoming brilliant reporters by giving them insight into journalistic writing.
The pupils engaged in a practical Maths session, where they worked collaboratively to calculate the area of shapes. For their area calculations, the pupils made effective use of colourful counters as a practical resource.
During the Maths activity, Year 4 pupils demonstrated their problem-solving skills and ability to measure and compare different areas.
Across both subjects, the pupils consistently showed a strong commitment to working together brilliantly and supporting one another's learning.
This Week in Year 5!
In Physical Education, Year 5 pupils successfully completed their 'Intra-Class' tournament, participating in a range of team games and physical activities.
