Throughout the week, our Nursery and Reception pupils have embarked on a wonderful journey of discovery as they began their new topics. It has been a week filled with curiosity and hands-on learning:
During their Topic lessons, pupils in Reception explored the unique characteristics of various creatures, successfully sorting animals into groups based on whether they had scales, feathers, or fur, as part of their topic, 'Safari Animals'. In English, the children practised using descriptive adjectives to compose their own simple sentences about the safari animals they had studied. As part of a special Science workshop, pupils met a variety of reptiles, demonstrating great care and courage as they touched the animals and discovered fascinating new facts.
In Maths, the children focused on their number fluency by accurately counting objects up to 20. During further Maths activities, pupils developed their mental arithmetic by learning how to count on from any given number within 20.
Across the curriculum, our youngest pupils showed immense enthusiasm for their learning, building both their vocabulary and their confidence throughout the week.
This week, the pupils in Year 1 have demonstrated remarkable dedication to their learning across a variety of subjects. We are incredibly proud of their progress and the enthusiasm they have shown during the following activities:
During English, the pupils applied their creative writing skills to compose formal diary entries, reflecting on the daily life of a child in a Victorian school. In Maths lessons, the children worked collaboratively to identify equal groups and practiced the fundamental skill of sharing different amounts into equal sets. Throughout their History-linked tasks, the children compared modern classroom equipment with historical Victorian artefacts to deepen their understanding of the past.
As part of their Art and Design studies, the pupils explored the technique of cardboard layering to create textured shapes. During their Art sessions, they also used vibrant oil pastels to produce detailed drawings of buildings, inspired by the unique style of the artist James Rizzi.
In Forest School, the pupils participated in outdoor learning opportunities, where they developed their teamwork skills and appreciation for the natural environment.
Throughout this week, pupils in Year 2 have been engaging diligently with our curriculum. Our classrooms have been hubs of discovery, with pupils demonstrating great focus as they tackled new concepts across a range of subjects.
During English lessons, the children explored rhyming poetry and identified words with matching sounds to help them structure their work. As part of their English writing, the pupils applied these skills to compose their own original poems inspired by the seaside. In Mathematics, pupils practiced telling the time at 15-minute intervals and learned that there are 60 minutes in an hour and 24 hours in a day.

In History, the pupils studied the life of William the Conqueror and his role in British past. During History discussions, they explored the concept of a hierarchy and learned how power was shared among different monarchs throughout time.
It has been a productive and enriching week for our Year 3 pupils, filled with hands-on learning and academic progress. Please find a summary of their recent achievements below:
During an educational visit to Painshill Park, pupils explored the historical Roman buildings and the impressive Crystal Grotto. The pupils conducted a comparative study of the park’s architectural site, examining the intricate stonework of the Roman ruins and the engineering marvel of the Crystal Grotto—an 18th-century masterpiece of stalactites and reflective water.
During their English lessons, pupils composed evocative setting descriptions of an Iceni Village, inspired by the text Queen of Darkness. In English, the children focused on enhancing their writing by using sophisticated figurative language, including expanded noun phrases and similes.
As part of their Maths learning, the year group revisited the concept of fractions, using the 'Polypad' digital tool to build their mathematical confidence. In Science, the children investigated the local wildlife and identified the specific requirements plants need to grow successfully.

During Maths, the pupils mastered the concept of decimals by learning how to accurately order and compare numbers with different values. In further Maths lessons, they developed their skills in rounding decimals to the nearest whole number, which helped to improve their overall number confidence.
As part of their History lessons, the pupils used Google Classroom to conduct an independent investigation into the daily lives of people in Ancient Sumer. In History, the children also explored the significant inventions of the Sumerian civilisation, discussing how these early developments impacted the wider world.
During English, the pupils researched the life of the famous archaeologist Howard Carter to prepare for their formal writing task. In their English writing, the pupils applied their knowledge to draft detailed biographies of Howard Carter, focusing on his discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb. Within their literacy work, the pupils used advanced vocabulary and chronological features to ensure their biographies were informative and engaging for the reader.
Earlier this week, Year 5 pupils participated in a range of challenging and enriching learning experiences. They demonstrated excellent focus and made significant progress across the curriculum as outlined below:

In History, the pupils worked collaboratively to analyse how the beliefs of the Ancient Greeks have influenced modern storytelling, showing great respect for historical cultures.
In Art, the year group explored mixed media techniques, combining different materials and artistic skills to produce high-quality images that demonstrated their ability to review and refine their work. During Art, pupils reflected on their previous skills to select the best methods for their mixed media projects, showing a mature approach to improving their own creative outputs.
As part of their English lessons, pupils applied their creative writing skills to compose detailed profiles of their own original Greek gods, carefully selecting powerful vocabulary to describe their characters' unique powers and personalities. Within their Maths sessions, pupils developed their understanding of geometry by measuring various angles, successfully utilising both digital software and hands-on tools to ensure accuracy in their calculations.
Throughout their Maths and English work, pupils showed a wonderful commitment to their studies, ensuring that all written and practical tasks were completed to an outstanding standard.
This week, our Year 6 pupils have demonstrated exceptional dedication to their studies, making significant progress across the core curriculum. It has been a pleasure to observe their hard work and academic growth:
During English, pupils authored their own mystery narratives inspired by the novel Letters from the Lighthouse, expertly incorporating subordinate clauses to add detail and suspense. In English, they further enhanced their writing by selecting ambitious vocabulary and using higher-level punctuation, such as colons and semi-colons, to create a sophisticated tone.
As part of their Maths lessons, the children learned to accurately translate a variety of shapes across all four quadrants of a coordinate grid. In Maths, pupils also investigated the properties of symmetry, ensuring they could reflect and identify symmetrical patterns with high levels of precision.
During GPS (Grammar, Punctuation, and Spelling), the classes focused on the vital role of determiners within a sentence to provide clarity for the reader. In GPS, pupils practised identifying and using different types of determiners, such as articles and demonstratives, to refine their formal writing style.
Finally, several of our Year 6 pupils represented the Trust at Guildhall, City of London to showcase our dynamic approach to teaching and learning. Pupils thoroughly impressed guest from the Worship Company of Educators and Chartered College of Teaching and Project Skills Alliance by showcasing their use of Chromebooks, exploring how LEGO computing has supported their understanding of coding and taking them through practical examples of how technology has supported Writing across the Trust. Well done all involved.

We are thrilled to announce that for the upcoming academic year, Manor Park Primary School will be officially supporting The Paul Alan Project as our dedicated school charity. This is a fantastic opportunity for our children to learn about community safety, emergency skills, and the importance of quick action in critical situations.
The Paul Alan Project is a volunteer-run charity with the vital mission of saving lives through emergency preparedness. They are dedicated to preventing cardiac arrest deaths in the UK by focusing on three core areas:
Free Lifesaving Training: They provide FREE basic life support training (including how to perform CPR and confidently use a defibrillator) to individuals and organisations in the community.
Defibrillator Provision: They raise funds to install Public Access Defibrillators (PADs) and Bleed Control Kits in communities, particularly in parks and residential areas where provision is often poor.
Awareness: They raise awareness of the signs of cardiac arrest and the difference a quick response can make.
Our 2025/2026 Fundraising Goal: £2,000 for Manor Park
This money will be used to purchase and install a 24/7 Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) and a Bleed Control Kit in Manor Park. This vital equipment will be accessible to our entire local community, serving as a critical resource in a medical emergency.
