Express and Share Assemblies for Years 1
Year 1 Express and Share Assembly is to be held on Wednesday 5th February 2025 at 9:10 am and at 2:00 pm.
Following these assemblies, you will then be invited back to the classrooms to support the children with their learning based on their current topic. Siblings are welcome to attend the assembly but unfortunately will not be able to go into the classrooms due to the lack of space.
As with all of our assemblies and performances, we politely ask parents/carers arrive promptly to prevent disruption to the children’s presentation. When photographing your children in school performances, events and productions, please use small cameras only to ensure that you are not interfering with the view of other parents. Also, when posting photographs of school events on social media e.g. Facebook, please ensure that you are only posting pictures of your child. Parental consent has not been obtained for you to include photographs of other children who may be present in your pictures.
We understand that medical and other essential appointments sometimes need to be scheduled during the school day. To minimise disruption to your child's learning and ensure accurate attendance records, we ask that you follow these guidelines:
Morning Appointments: If your child has a morning appointment, we strongly advise that they attend school first thing in the morning to receive their attendance mark at 8:45 am. This ensures they are marked present for the morning session. After the appointment, please bring your child back to school as soon as possible.
School Lunch: If your child is returning to school after a morning appointment and requires a school lunch, please inform the school office in advance. This will allow us to make the necessary arrangements.
Afternoon Appointments: If your child has an afternoon appointment, please collect them from school as late as possible while still ensuring they arrive at their appointment on time. This minimises the amount of learning time missed.
By following these guidelines, we can work together to ensure your child’s attendance record is accurate and that they miss as little learning time as possible. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
If you have any questions or require further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact Ms Oliveira at the school office.
School Uniform and Appearance
To maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, we kindly ask all students to adhere to our school uniform policy.
Key Points:
Neat and Tidy: Students should always look neat and tidy in their school uniform.
Tucked-in Shirts: Please ensure shirts are tucked in.
Appropriate Footwear: School shoes must be worn at all times. Trainers are not permitted.
Hair: Long hair should be tied back.
Jewellery: Only small, plain studs are allowed. Remove all jewellery for contact sports and swimming.
No Nail Polish: Please note that nail polish is not permitted.
Label Everything: To minimize lost property, please label all belongings with your child's name.
We appreciate your support in ensuring your child complies with our uniform policy. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us.
By working together, we can maintain a positive and productive learning environment for all.
May we please remind you that children should bring all their equipment into school with them in the morning.
Charged Chromebooks should be brought in every day for learning.
PE kits should be in school permanently until they are taken home at half term for washing.
Swimming kits must be brought in on the allocated swim day.
Water bottles should be in every day with your child's name.
Pencil cases and other stationery are not required as these are provided by the school.
As Autumn, and subsequently Winter, approaches the children should always have a coat with them.
Thank you for your co-operation. This will ensure that all children are well prepared for their day and limits the disruption to learning when things come in late and have to be taken to the class.
Health and Safety Notice-No Nuts in School
Some of our children have serious nut allergies which can be life threatening. Please try to make sure that your child does not bring nuts into school.
No peanut butter or Nutella sandwiches, snack bars or biscuits containing nuts and no small boxes of nuts and raisins please.

Chinese New Year Celebrations at Manor Park
Manor Park pupils enjoyed a vibrant and exciting celebration of Chinese New Year.
Across the school, children learned about the rich traditions and customs associated with this important festival. A special Chinese New Year lunch was prepared for all pupils, adding to the festive atmosphere. Each year group engaged in a variety of activities, bringing the spirit of the New Year to life.
Year 1 explored their Chinese zodiac signs and their meanings, while also learning about global celebrations through a captivating storybook. Year 2 focused on Chinese New Year traditions and expressed their creativity through colourful artwork. Year 4 pupils designed and crafted beautiful lanterns, while Year 6 impressed everyone with their artistic skills, creating wonderful lanterns, dragon masks, and snakes.
The entire school community embraced the opportunity to learn about and appreciate this significant cultural event.
Year 4 Continue to Impress Musically!
Our Year 4 pupils experienced a truly delightful music session earlier this week. They participated enthusiastically in a wide range of musical activities. The children demonstrated excellent teamwork, listening attentively to one another and sharing ideas with confidence. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and progress.
Building on this enthusiasm, our pupils are now excitedly preparing for an upcoming musical performance later in the year. We are looking forward to showcasing their musical talents and celebrating their hard work with you all. We believe it will be a wonderful opportunity for our children to share their love of music with the wider community.
Year 2 Create their Own Sandwiches!
This week, our Year 2 pupils embarked on a delicious learning adventure, combining literacy with practical skills. As part of their writing unit inspired by the book, 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch', the children engaged in a hands-on activity, creating their own jam and cheese sandwiches. They learned the importance of carefully following instructions, a crucial skill for both cooking and writing. Working collaboratively, the pupils practiced each step, ensuring their sandwiches were perfectly constructed.
We are excited to see the creative and descriptive recipes they produce, showcasing both their culinary and writing talents as they progress to writing their own detailed sandwich recipe instructions later this week.
Year 3 Show Off Their Fossil Sculpture Skills!
Year 3 pupils became amazing sculptors today! They learned how to make their own ammonite fossils, just like the ones we sometimes find around here. The children used different clay techniques to create their fossil masterpieces. Some pupils coiled the clay, rolling it into long ropes and then spiralling them to form the ammonite shell. Others carved the clay, carefully shaping and cutting it to create interesting patterns. A few children pinched the clay, using their fingers to mould and shape the details.
Everyone was very creative and produced some fantastic ammonite fossils to be proud of! Well done, Year 3!
Year 6 Become Polar Explorers in Geography!
Our Year 6 geographers had a fantastic time learning about Polar Day and Polar Night!
They started by listening to a story that helped them understand this amazing natural phenomenon. The children then used globes to see how the Earth's tilt affects how much sunlight different parts of the world receive. They discovered why some places have 24 hours of daylight or darkness. This hands-on activity really brought their learning to life. The pupils asked lots of interesting questions and shared their ideas. It was a fun and informative lesson for everyone.
We were all impressed with their enthusiasm and understanding.
Year 5 & Year 6 Girls' Football Success!
Last week, our Girls' Football Team participated in a league match and demonstrated incredible determination and teamwork. Despite facing a challenging start and being down 2-0, the girls showed fantastic resilience. They worked tirelessly, supporting each other and displaying great skill on the field. Their efforts truly paid off as they fought back to achieve a well-deserved draw. This match was a testament to their hard work and commitment to the sport.
The girls' performance was truly inspiring and a wonderful example of sportsmanship. We are incredibly proud of each and every member of the team for their dedication and the positive attitude they displayed throughout the game. Well done, girls! You are all stars.
