Manor Park Primary Academy School has a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. This responsibility necessitates a child protection policy and procedures which are available to view on the website, or a copy can be requested from the School Office. Our designated Child Protection Officers are Ms. Thomas and Ms. Laing. Information may need to be shared with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. LEO Academy Rank 5th Nationally in the MAT Performance Tables 2024
This week, the Department for Education has released the primary school performance tables for the End of Key Stage 2. I am delighted to report that the LEO Academy Trust, of which we are a part, has achieved exceptional results, placing joint 5th nationally in combined Reading, Writing, and Mathematics attainment. Our pupils' performance, with 85% achieving the expected standard (EXS+), significantly surpasses the national average of 61%.
As a Trust, this represents our strongest set of results to date. Well done to all schools within the LEO Trust for their exceptional results combined.
World Book Day at Manor Park
This year, as part of World Book Day, Manor Park will be celebrating the importance of reading for pleasure on Thursday 6th March 2025. World Book Day aims to change children’s lives by encouraging children to read together and for reading to be a habit for life, something we are truly passionate about at Manor Park.
On Thursday 6th March 2025, we ask that the children come to school dressed as a character from their favourite book.
Please note that due to an organised trip on this day, Year 5 can come to school dressed as their favourite book character on Friday 7th March 2025.
Travelling Book Fair
The Travelling Book Company’s Book Fair will also arrive on Monday 3rd March 2025 and you are warmly invited to browse and buy books from a wide range of titles in the studio hall (entrance from the Main School Playground) from 3:20pm to 4:00pm on Monday-Thursday and from 2:20pm to 3:00pm on Friday that week.
All pupils will receive a £1 book token which they can use toward a purchase at the book fair. Please note that only 1 token can be used towards each book and will not be accepted as payment for stationery items. There will, of course, be the option of choosing and paying by cash or debit card on the day you visit the fair.
Thank you for your continued support.
Shrove Tuesday - Pancake Day
On Tuesday, March 4th, our school will be celebrating Pancake Day!
We'll be serving up warm, tasty pancakes with a yummy toffee sauce to all our students. Whether your child brings a packed lunch or enjoys a school meal, every child will get a chance to enjoy this special treat.
Pancake Day is a day many people around the world enjoy, often marking the start of spring and the chance to use up ingredients before the season changes. It's a great opportunity to enjoy a fun and tasty meal together.
We're looking forward to seeing lots of happy faces enjoying this tasty treat.
This is a friendly reminder to our families celebrating Ramadan. While we fully support your child's observance of the fast, we kindly ask that you send your child to school with a healthy snack. This snack is for them to have in case they feel unwell or need some extra energy throughout the day. Please, be rest assured, that the school office would telephone parents/carers before any food/drink is offered.
We understand that young children may find fasting challenging, and we want to ensure their well-being during this holy month.
Parent/Teacher Meetings - Thanks!
This week, our Parent-Teacher Meetings for Nursery to Year 6 were held, providing a valuable opportunity for parents and carers to discuss their child's progress with their teachers. We would like to thank everyone who attended and participated in these important conversations.
We would also like to extend a special thank you to our dedicated Year 6 helpers: Orson, Clark, Hafsah, Aysha, Kate and Kiran. Their assistance in showing parents and carers to their appointments was invaluable. Their politeness, helpfulness, and exemplary behaviour were a credit to our school. Well done!
May we please remind you that children should bring all their equipment into school with them each morning.
Children having a packed lunch should bring their lunch in a lunch box, as this helps them remember if they are having a packed lunch or a school dinner that day.
Charged Chromebooks should be brought in every day for daily use.
PE kits should remain in school and be taken home at half term for washing.
Swimming kits must be brought in on the allocated swim day.
Children should always have a coat with them.
If your child/ren forgets their water bottle, please be reassured that each classroom has water and cups available.
This will ensure that each child is well prepared for their day and limits the disruption to learning when things come in late and have to be taken to class. Thank you for your co-operation.
Year 1 Explore Christianity in Time for Easter
This week, our Year 1 pupils have engaged thoughtfully in Religious Education, exploring the significance of Spring for the Christian faith.
They have investigated the symbolism of new life and hope inherent in this season, developing a deeper understanding of religious celebrations and their meaning.
Well done to all pupils for their beautiful work and thoughtful contributions.
Year 5 'Conflict' Workshop Success
We were delighted to host a conflict resolution workshop for our Year 5 pupils earlier this week.
The session focused on developing essential skills in meaningful communication and effective conflict resolution. It is our aim to equip our pupils with the tools necessary to navigate interpersonal challenges constructively, fostering a positive and harmonious learning environment.
Well done to all those involved and we look forward to continuing developing these essential skills within the classroom.
LEGO Coding Comes to Life in Year 6
Our Year 6 pupils have demonstrated exceptional ingenuity and collaborative spirit in their recent Lego robotics project.
Through meticulous design, construction, and programming, they have successfully brought their models to life. This exercise has provided an invaluable opportunity for our pupils to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, all of which are essential for their continued academic and personal growth.
144 Success In Year 1
We are immensely proud to announce a remarkable achievement within our Year 1 Amethyst class.
Pupil Francesco has earned his third 144 badge and certificate this academic year, demonstrating exceptional mastery of multiplication and division through successful completion of the 144 Club sheet.
This outstanding accomplishment reflects Francesco's dedication and mathematical aptitude, and we commend him for his diligent efforts.
KS2 Netball Success at Manor Park
Earlier this week, a selection of our pupils across Key Stage 2 participated in a friendly netball match against Cheam Park Farm Primary. Throughout the game, we were delighted to observe the pupils demonstrating excellent teamwork and skill, resulting in some impressive passing plays and successful scoring.
We commend all involved for their sportsmanship and dedication.
Intraclass Sports Tournaments across KS2
This week, Year 5 engaged in an invigorating 'Intraclass' end ball tournament, providing all pupils with the opportunity to participate in competitive sport.
The enthusiasm and sportsmanship displayed were commendable, and we extend our congratulations to Ruby for her victorious performance, acknowledging the excellent effort of all participating pupils.
Well done to all pupils and we look forward to seeing the next round of 'Instraclass' tournaments later in the term!
