Manor Park Primary Academy School has a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. This responsibility necessitates a child protection policy and procedures which are available to view on the website, or a copy can be requested from the School Office. Our designated Child Protection Officers are Ms. Thomas and Ms. Laing. Information may need to be shared with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. Manor Park Primary Academy is committed to gender, racial, religion and disability equality in every part of school life.

Mobile Phone Policy For Pupils
Following requests from parents regarding the 'Smart Phone Free' agenda, we need to ensure all parents are fully aware of LEO Academy Trust's policy on mobile phones in schools. This policy is essential for maintaining a focused learning environment and supporting the safety of our pupils:
On School Grounds: To ensure a focused learning environment, pupils are not permitted to use their personal mobile phones on school grounds or during lessons at LEO Academy Trust schools. This policy has a single exception for documented medical needs.
Storage and Use: For pupils who travel alone and carry a phone (at their parents' discretion), devices must be turned off upon entering school grounds and remain off until they exit the school gates. All such phones will be securely stored by the school upon arrival and returned at the end of the school day. (LEO Academy Trust holds no responsibility for loss or damage to the device whilst stored on the child's behalf).
Parental Considerations: We advise parents and guardians to consider providing their children with less expensive devices for safety reasons. While these devices still allow for calls and texts, they can mitigate some of the wider risks associated with more costly phones. We recognise that the ultimate decision regarding device choice rests with the parents.
Online Safety Education: LEO Academy Trust prioritises online safety. Our curriculum, parent workshops, and communications consistently highlight the dangers of unsupervised online access, particularly concerning social media. We also offer regular training and support for parents on online safety practices and managing parental controls on a variety of devices.
Absence During Term Time
We want to remind all families that, in line with school and local authority policy, family holidays must be taken during official school holidays only.
We understand that time away is important, but any leave taken during term time, including extending holidays either side of the official school dates, will be unauthorised. Please be aware that taking a child out of school for an unauthorised holiday may result in the local authority issuing a Penalty Notice Charge.
Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring your child attends school every day. Regular attendance is crucial in enabling your child to receive the full benefit of the education we provide.
In accordance with the Trust’s Attendance Policy, requests for leave of absence can only be granted by the Principal for exceptional circumstances.
Requests should be submitted one month prior to the dates required, whenever possible. We understand this may not be possible in the case of a genuine emergency.
If your request involves travel abroad, we also require a copy of flight or travel details to support the application.
Many thanks for your continued support.

We are thrilled to announce that for the upcoming academic year, Manor Park Primary School will be officially supporting The Paul Alan Project as our dedicated school charity. This is a fantastic opportunity for our children to learn about community safety, emergency skills, and the importance of quick action in critical situations.
Free Lifesaving Training: They provide FREE basic life support training (including how to perform CPR and confidently use a defibrillator) to individuals and organisations in the community.
Defibrillator Provision: They raise funds to install Public Access Defibrillators (PADs) and Bleed Control Kits in communities, particularly in parks and residential areas where provision is often poor.
Awareness: They raise awareness of the signs of cardiac arrest and the difference a quick response can make.
This year, we are hoping to raise at least £2,000.
This money will be used to purchase and install a 24/7 Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) and a Bleed Control Kit in Manor Park. This vital equipment will be accessible to our entire local community, serving as a critical resource in a medical emergency.
Throughout the year, we will be holding various exciting events and activities designed to promote awareness and raise money for The Paul Alan Project. Details of these eventswill be shared with you soon.
We warmly invite our entire school community to support this life-saving cause supporting an upcoming events. If you would like to contribute immediately, you can make a donation via our dedicated charity page:
Donate Here: https://www.thepaulalanproject.org/manor-park
Thank you in advance for your generosity and enthusiasm in helping us support The Paul Alan Project.
Please note that the deadline for applying for a high school place for your Year 6 child is approaching. All applications must be made via the Sutton website at www.sutton.gov.uk/admissions by 31st OCTOBER 2025. Make your application before this date to ensure that it is received, where a confirmation email of your completed application will follow. It is easier to cancel a school application than to try to find a school place if you miss the closing date if your plans do not go quite as expected.
Was your child born between 1st September 2021 AND 31st August 2022?
If so, they will be due to start Primary School in September 2026. Click here for further details.

The closing date for applications is 15th January 2026.
This Week in Nursery & Reception
Reception pupils engaged with the delightful story 'Whatever Next!' as their focus for the week's literary activities. Following the story, the pupils creatively prepared and participated in a pretend picnic on the moon, much like the main character.
Practical application of design and technology skills was observed as the pupils expertly constructed their own model rockets. They used a range of mediums to draw, design and decorate their space rockets.
A key mathematical concept was explored through a fun counting exercise, with pupils comparing to determine who had more or fewer cupcakes. The entire learning experience fostered teamwork and imaginative play among the Reception pupils.
This Week in Year 1!
Year 1 read and responded to the book ‘The Paper Dolls’ during English lessons. The pupils worked collaboratively to label a paper doll from the story, successfully adding relevant adjectives.
In Mathematics, pupils practised using number lines to add numbers together, demonstrating careful counting of jumps to find the total. The class demonstrated excellent collaborative skills across the week's mathematical activities.
A stimulating science investigation explored the function of having two eyes. Pupils conducted exciting experiments to judge the ease of completing tasks with both eyes open compared to just one.
This Week in Year 2!
Year 2 developed their writing skills by analysing examples of newspaper report structures and their essential components during their English lessons. The pupils engaged in collaborative learning in English, where they closely examined newspaper reports and collectively identified the purpose of a strong headline.
Year 2 successfully created detailed and high-quality still life artwork, demonstrating admirable focus and artistic talent throughout the process. The pupils explored the world of art by using everyday classroom items to compose their own still life arrangements. Focussing on technique, the pupils applied their new drawing skills to their still life sketches, paying particular attention to composition, proportion, and shading.
Finally, Year 2 pupils participated in an anti-racism initiative, 'Show the Red Card to Racism,' by wearing red attire to promote inclusive and celebrate diversity.
This Week in Year 3!
Year 3 pupils enthusiastically participated in the "Show Racism the Red Card" competition, where they designed shirts to promote equality. In celebration of Black History Month, pupils joined the rest of the school in wearing red.
Mathematics sessions saw pupils continuing their exploration of addition, using Base 10 apparatus and place value grids to understand the commutativity principle. Pupils deepened their understanding of addition and subtraction, specifically when crossing the tens boundary, by utilising Base 10 and a dedicated stem sentence.
In Geography, pupils began exploring the Earth's climate zones, discovering how temperatures increase closer to the equator. The learning culminated with pupils successfully identifying and labelling the five major climate zones—ranging from Polar to Tropical—on a world map.
This Week in Year 4!
The class hosted a successful Express & Share event focusing on the topic of "Invasion," demonstrating excellent presentation skills. Parents joined the afternoon session to collaborate with pupils on the creation of Viking shields, fostering a brilliant mix of history and c reativity.
Year 4 pupils participated in an engaging science experiment using eggs to investigate the effect of various drinks on teeth. The week’s activities showcased the excellent research, collaboration, and practical skills developed by our Year 4 pupils across the lesson.
A selection of Year 4 pupils represented the school at the Sutton Sports Parntership Year 4 Cross Country event, showing remarkable determination and resilience.
This Week in Year 5!
Design and Technology saw Year 5 pupils successfully conduct pneumatic experiments and complete creative design projects. Pupils consolidated their knowledge of Forces in Science through an engaging and immersive audio experience utilising the Now Press Play platform.
In English, pupils refined their writing skills, utilising the Olex platform to edit and enhance diary entries detailing Aleja's journey on the Ship of Shadows, with a strong focus on grammar and punctuation.
The French curriculum introduced pupils to the construction of simple sentences using the practical phrase 'Je Peux...' (I can...), building foundational communication skills.
History lessons involved pupils conducting in-depth research on the significant Ancient Shang Dynasty warrior, Fu Hao, culminating in the creation of informative fact files.
Overall, the week was characterised by excellent teamwork, creativity, and a strong appetite for learning across the entire Year 5 cohort.
This Week in Year 6!
Year 6 pupils attended the Junior Citizenship Scheme at Sutton Library, where they successfully engaged with learning about safety, community, and personal responsibility. The pupils demonstrated excellent engagement throughout the scheme, acquiring vital life skills for their transition to secondary school.
In Geography, Pupils participated in a practical session focusing on Ordnance Survey maps, developing their geographical understanding. They learned to identify features on the maps and accurately pinpoint locations using six-figure grid references.
The week culminated with the Year 6 Express and Share assembly, where pupils proudly presented their half-term learning to an audience of parents and carers. Following the assembly, pupils collaborated with their adult guests to decorate their African Masks within their classrooms.
Amazing Achievement at Cross Country
We are bursting with pride to share this fantastic news about our outstanding pupils that participated in the Cross Country Competition!
Earlier this week, a group of pupils represented our school with incredible determination at the highly competitive School Sport Partnership Year 5 & 6 Cross Country Competition. They competed against dozens of speedy runners from schools all across our local partnership area.
The children pushed themselves every step of the way, displaying excellent stamina and a brilliant competitive spirit.
One of our amazing pupils, Ruth, year 6, crossed the finish line in second place! This phenomenal achievement earned her a very well-deserved 'silver' medal.
To finish second in such a large field of talented young athletes is a truly brilliant feat and a testament to Ruth's hard work and commitment to training.
A massive well done to Ruth from everyone at the school! We are so proud of your dedication and your brilliant performance. Keep running and reaching for those goals!
