Manor Park Primary Academy School has a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. This responsibility necessitates a child protection policy and procedures which are available to view on the website, or a copy can be requested from the School Office. Our designated Child Protection Officers are Ms. Thomas and Ms. Laing. Information may need to be shared with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. Manor Park Primary Academy is committed to gender, racial, religion and disability equality in every part of school life.
Important Reminder: Alternative Pick-Up Arrangements and Walking Home Alone
School email volume is high, so please plan ahead for after-school pick-up!
To ensure a smooth dismissal process and the safety of your child, we kindly ask for your cooperation with the following procedures:
Pick-up by unauthorised person: If someone other than your designated contact list will be collecting your child, please send a note to their class teacher that morning. This will allow the teacher to be aware and prepared for the alternate pick-up arrangement.
Year 5 & 6 Students Walking Home Alone: For students in Years 5 or 6 who are allowed to walk home by themselves after school and/or after clubs, written permission must be emailed to the school office at office@manorpark.sutton.sch.uk. This email should specify your child's name, class, and permission for independent walking after both school and clubs.
Important: Failure to mention after-club permission will result in your child being supervised in the school office until pick-up.
Same-day changes? If you need to grant permission for independent walking on the same day, please write a note to the class teacher or call the school office directly.
Email processing time: Please be aware that emails may take up to 15 days to be processed. Same-day requests via email might not be received in time.
By following these simple steps, you can help us ensure a safe and efficient after-school dismissal for all our students.
Thank you for your cooperation!
After School Clubs
After School Clubs are up and running and uptake was excellent.
There are still some places available for Spanish Club on Friday afternoon. There are a 3 week trial period (limited offer for new students only). If your child is interested in participating in this club please see attached flyer here.
May we please remind you that your child should attend each week and if for some reason they have to miss a session. a note should be sent in to their class teacher that day. Clubs finish at 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and at 3.30pm on Friday -please ensure children are collected on time.
Children are not allowed to bring medication into school including non prescription items (like cough sweets) to administer to themselves. We do not normally administer any medicines in school unless they are for a long term chronic condition such as asthma or if it is detrimental to a child's health if the medicines were not administered during the school day.
If your child requires medicine during the day, such as antibiotics, please ask your GP to prescribe dose frequencies which enable it to be taken outside school hours i.e before school after school and before bed. Alternatively, parents are welcome to come into school and administer medicines themselves, by arrangement with the office.
If a medicine needs to be administered during the school day, please come to the school office to discuss this and complete a permission form online.
If your child has an injury that has required hospital treatment (injured arm or leg, bang to the head or similar) please come to the school office on their return to school. We must assess how their injury will need to be managed in school and if anything needs to be put in place to support them.
Flu Vaccination
This autumn term, your child’s annual flu vaccination is on 19th September. Please use the link provided below to access and complete one electronic consent form for each child in school to ensure your child receives their vaccination:
https://sav.hrch.nhs.uk/flu/2024/sutton
The deadline for submitting your e-consent form is Sunday 15/09/2024
Ofsted Inspection Results: Jancett After School Club
We are pleased to share the results of the recent Ofsted inspection conducted at Jancett After School Club. The inspection took place at the end of the summer term and we are thrilled to report that the club received a "Met" rating. Please find attached the Ofsted report for your consultation.
School Attendance Guidance
Manor Park Primary Academy strongly believes that good attendance will ensure that a child can take full advantage of what school has to offer and will gain the educational and social skills necessary for life. The expected level of attendance is 96% and above and awards are given out termly to every child in Reception to Year 6 who achieve a level of 98% or more during that term.
If a child’s attendance falls below the threshold of 90% (a level set by the Government and meaning that they have missed 38 sessions or 19 days of learning) they are monitored by the school and Borough School Attendance Services. Medical evidence may be required to support further absence and failure to comply may result in a fixed penalty notice being imposed. The Principal is unable to consider any request for leave for an emergency or exceptional circumstance if a child’s attendance is below that level. A child who misses 19 days (38 sessions) or more during an academic year will be classed as a persistently absent pupil and, over a five year period, a child whose attendance level is 90% or below would have missed half a year’s learning which will impact immensely on their education.
The school will not authorise time off for family holiday. Holidays should be taken during the school holiday periods and the Trust policy is that absence for holidays will not be authorised during term time and a Penalty Charge Notice may be applied.
'Exceptional circumstances' requests, although considered on a case by case basis will normally be refused. The exceptional circumstance should be of unique and significant emotional, educational and/or spiritual value to the child which outweighs the loss of teaching time. Leave should not be taken until the school has confirmed it has been approved. You may also discuss your request with Mrs Oliveira in the school office.
We wanted to remind you that arriving on time is extremely important for a child as it ensures a good start to their day and to their learning. It also enables them to see their friends, chat to their teacher and consolidate or extend their learning from the previous day.
Arriving late causes a child to feel embarrassed and unsettled and can also be very disruptive to the class who may have already started their learning or gone into the hall for assembly. If a child arrives after registers have closed at 9.30am, this becomes an unauthorised absence on their attendance record.
Registration takes place at 8.45am and the children should be in class by then. Some of our children are arriving after 9.00am and by the time they hang their coats up and place lunch boxes on the racks, they are missing the start of the day.
Most of our late arrivals are only a few minutes late and we hope the following suggestions may help if you have difficulty getting your child(ren) to school on time.
Ensure that your child has a good bedtime routine and a nutritious breakfast in the morning to set them up for the start of the day.
Allow enough time for your journey to school.
Always have a back-up plan if a problem arises-a family member or another parent who could bring your child to school in the morning.

Year 1 & Year 2
Year 1 artists have been busy exploring the world of primary and secondary colours, creating beautiful watercolour masterpieces. They've also been enjoying the great outdoors, building, exploring, and even running their own cafe! Meanwhile, Year 2 have found their rhythm with their first drumming session, and had a blast learning about the importance of handwashing through a fun and engaging experiment. It's been a week filled with creativity, discovery, and joy in learning!
Year 3 & Year 4
Year 3 have truly mastered place value, confidently using base-10 equipment and part-part-whole models to represent and understand 3-digit numbers. Their musical journey has also begun with an inspiring first lesson from Inspire Works UK, where they enjoyed playing djembe drums and learned about different notes. Meanwhile, Year 4 embraced their inner scientists, exploring human and animal diets and conducting their own research using 'Kiddle', an online child-friendly encyclopaedia to answer their scientific questions. We are proud of their curiosity and enthusiasm for learning!
Year 5 & Year 6
It has been another inspiring week of learning in Year 5 and Year 6. Our Year 5 pupils demonstrated remarkable teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills in PSHE as they collaborated to construct impressive paper towers. They also delved into the fascinating world of forces, experimenting with gravity through hands-on activities. Meanwhile, Year 6 embarked on a journey through the human body, exploring the intricacies of the circulatory system. In Art, their creative spirits soared as they brought their paintings to life with a vibrant exploration of tints, tones, and shades. We are immensely proud of the curiosity, enthusiasm, and dedication our students demonstrate each day.
The class with the highest attendance level for the week ending 6th September 2024 in Early Years and Key Stage 1 was Amber Class with 99.44% closely followed by Amethyst Class with 98.28%
