Manor Park Primary Academy

Weekly Notices and Reminders

 Friday 10th November 2023

Learning, Excellence and Opportunity

Manor Park Primary Academy School has a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. This responsibility necessitates a child protection policy and procedures which are available to view on the website, or a copy can be requested from the School Office. Our designated Child Protection Officers are Ms. Thomas and Ms. Laing. Information may need to be shared with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. Manor Park Primary Academy is committed to gender, racial, religion and disability equality in every part of school life.

School Notices and Reminders

We will be including some general reminders in our Weekly Notices sheet in the coming weeks for the benefit of our new parents/carers, which we hope you will find useful. The Weekly Notices and Reminder Sheet is sent out every Friday and includes dates of forthcoming events, school visits and workshops and important messages and reminders  about school life.

Reception – Year 6 Nasal/ Injectable Flu Vaccination session: 05/12/2023

This vaccination is recommended to help protect your child against flu. Flu can be an unpleasant illness and sometimes causes serious complications. Vaccinating your child will also help protect more vulnerable family and friends by preventing the spread of flu. This year we will be offering both nasal and injectable (halal) flu vaccination and the parent can make an informed choice on the consent form.

Please use the link provided to access the electronic consent form https://sav.hrch.nhs.uk/flu/2023/sutton

Please complete one consent form for each child to ensure your child receives their vaccination.

You have 2 weeks until the deadline for submitting your e-consent form which is midnight on Tuesday,28/11/2023.

Please complete the consent form even if you decide you do not want to vaccinate your child against flu this year.

If you have any queries, please contact the relevant immunisation team below.

Contact with your Child's Class Teacher

Due to the large number of emails coming into the office,  we would ask that  if parents/carers have any queries or concerns with regards to their children, if at all possible, parents/carers are requested  to speak to their respective class teachers, preferably at the end of the school day, on the day, once the class teachers have safely 'delivered' their children to their parents/carers. For any specific concerns, if the class teacher has a meeting on the day after school, then they can refer you to the school office for a telephone appointment to be made.  This is so any small queries, or indeed, anything important or urgent can be dealt with quickly, as the office has a 10-15 day turnaround policy in respect of emails.

We do, of course, understand that there are some parents/carers who, for their own personal circumstances, cannot get to see the class teacher at the end of the day and the school office would certainly welcome emails or phone calls in order to offer assistance and pass any respective queries to the class teacher.

Thank you for your continued support.

Workshops and School Visits

Can we please remind all parents that school workshops and trips rely on the contributions of parents in order for the trips/workshops to go ahead and unfortunately these may be cancelled if we do not receive payments.

If you are having any difficulties making the payments, please contact the school office to discuss this further. Juniper Hall residential trip for year 4 deposit payment deadline is today, Friday 10th November 2023.

Thank you so much for your support.

After school Clubs Donation

We pride ourselves on offering our children a varied and exciting range of activities on our before and after school clubs. The school clubs donation fund will allow us to provide additional activities across all year groups.

We have a voluntary school club fund donation of any amount. Parents can donate for the school club fund online via our Arbor payment system. Go to:  Accounts - Club Donation - Top Up Account, or simply bring your cash donation to the school office in a named envelope.

We would like to thank you for your support.

Absence Around School Holidays

As the Christmas holidays approach, can we please remind you that family holidays must be  taken during school holidays only and should not be extended either side of the school holiday dates. Any time taken off to extend holidays will be unauthorised and a fixed penalty notice may be applied. Thank you for your co-operation in ensuring that your child attends school every day, enabling them  to receive the best education we can provide.

Also, in accordance with the school’s Attendance Policy, requests for leave for an emergency or exceptional circumstance should be made one month prior to the dates required, whenever possible (We understand that this is not always possible in the case of an emergency). Additionally, we also require a copy of flight details to support the request if travel abroad is required. Thank you.

Anti-Bullying Week

Anti bullying week takes place from Monday 13th - Friday 17th November. The theme this year for the week isMake a Noise.’

Over the course of the week, the children will be taking part in classroom based activities to help their understanding of  what bullying looks like and what they should do if they encounter bullying in any form.

On Monday 13th November, the children and staff at Manor Park will be taking part in ‘Odd Socks Day,’ to celebrate everyone’s differences and raise awareness. We invite the children to come in their school uniform wearing odd socks. This could be different colours or different patterns; anything to show their individuality!

Many thanks for your continued support.

Head Lice

We have had reports of head lice in Reception - Garnet Class. Please check your child or children's hair. Regular vigorous brushing and combing through after applying conditioner is an effective way to deal with lice and their eggs or you can obtain treatment shampoos from your GP or over the counter.

Sutton Youth Summit 2023

Please see attached flyer regarding Sutton Youth Summit 2023.

This Week At Manor Park

This week, pupils from Year 4 had a wonderful field trip to the Shree Ghanapathy Temple in Wimbledon. During their visit, pupils had the opportunity to explore the beautiful temple and its intricate architecture, as well as get up close to the various deities. Additionally, pupils were able to observe Puja (Hindu prayer rituals) and observe the practice of daily worship. Throughout the visit, the pupils were encouraged to ask questions to extend their knowledge and gain a deeper understanding of this important aspect of Hindu culture and religion.

F.O.M.P.

The parent/teacher association for Manor Park Primary is looking for volunteers!

FOMP are recruiting new volunteers to join and to help with running fundraising events throughout the year. There is no obligation to support all events; we appreciate any time that you can give to support FOMP and the school.

The FOMP team work together to organise and run events to raise money for the school, that goes directly into resources and experiences for the children. These have included, a visit from Santa Claus, a Winter Pantomime, financial help with residential trips and buying new resources and equipment for the students at school.

If you are interested please click here for more information.

Personalised Christmas Cards

This week,  children have the opportunity to design their own personalised, professionally printed Christmas card, which you can then buy to give to family and friends. They have been provided with a template to bring home to draw their Christmas design on.

Please write your child’s name and class in block capitals in the space provided on the back of the template. This will appear on the finished printed card.

Note the deadline for the return of this templates to the class teacher is next  Friday 17th November. Any designs received past this date will, unfortunately, be unable to be processed.

Happy drawing!
