Manor Park Primary Academy

Weekly Notices and Reminders

 Friday 6th October 2023

Learning, Excellence and Opportunity

Manor Park Primary Academy School has a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. This responsibility necessitates a child protection policy and procedures which are available to view on the website, or a copy can be requested from the School Office. Our designated Child Protection Officers are Ms. Thomas and Ms. Laing. Information may need to be shared with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. Manor Park Primary Academy is committed to gender, racial, religion and disability equality in every part of school life.

School Notices and Reminders

We will be including some general reminders in our Weekly Notices sheet in the coming weeks for the benefit of our new parents/carers and which we hope you will find useful. The Weekly Notices and Reminder Sheet is sent out every Friday and includes dates of forthcoming events, school visits and workshops and important messages and reminders  about school life.

Packed Lunch And Water Bottles

Research shows that when children eat well at lunchtime they perform better in class in the afternoon.  Therefore it is recommended that all lunch boxes include:

At least one portion of fruit (e.g. banana, apple, orange, grapes (cut up), dried fruit, cherry tomatoes) should be included each day.

At least one portion of vegetables e.g. carrot sticks, cucumber, celery. These ingredients could be added to a sandwich or sweetcorn added to pasta.

Meat, fish or other source of non-dairy protein (e.g. chicken, turkey, ham, beef, pork, tuna, lentils, kidney beans, chickpeas, hummus and falafel) should be included every day. (Oily fish such as salmon or tuna at least once every three weeks).

A starchy food such as any type of bread, pasta, rice, couscous, noodles, potatoes or other type of cereals every day (e.g. pitta bread, tortilla wraps, rice cakes, oat cakes) should be included each day.

Dairy food such as milk, cheese, yoghurt, fromage frais or custard should be included every day.

Drinks should be only water (no squash) in a plastic bottle, NO GLASS, a carton of juice (with their lunch) or milk.

An example of a recommended lunch box could be a chicken salad wrap, an apple, yoghurt, a low sugar flap jack and a drink of water.

We are sensitive to the catering needs of children with specific dietary needs, including religious considerations.  We have children at Manor Park Primary who have allergic reactions to nuts; they require Epipens.  Packed lunches must NOT include nuts or products that contain nuts (i.e. NO Nutella and NO peanut butter). We are a NUT FREE SCHOOL.

Express and Share Assemblies for Years 4 & 6

Year 4- Thursday 12th October 2023 at 9:10am and at 2:00pm

Year 6- Wednesday 11th October 2023 at 9:10am and at 2:00pm

Following these assemblies, you will then be invited back to the classrooms to support the children with some learning based on their topic. Siblings are welcome to attend the assembly but unfortunately will not be able to go into the classrooms due to the lack of space.

As with all of our assemblies and performances, we politely ask parents/carers arrive promptly to prevent disruption to the children’s presentation. When photographing your children in school performances, events and productions, please use small cameras only to ensure that you are not interfering with the view of other parents. Also, when posting photographs of school events on social media e.g. Facebook, please ensure that you are only posting pictures of your child. Parental consent has not been obtained for you to include photographs of other children who may be present in your pictures.

Kingswood Residential Trip

Year 6 are off on their visit to Kingswood Activity Centre on Sunday 15th October and we just want to remind you as follows:

Workshops and School Visits

Can we please remind all parents that school workshops and trips rely on the contributions of parents in order for the trips/workshops to go ahead and unfortunately these may be cancelled if we do not receive payments. If you are having any difficulties making the payments, please contact the school office to discuss this further.  Thank you so much for your support.

School Uniform Sale

We are holding our first uniform sale of this academic year on Monday 9th October 2023 at 3.00pm-3.45pm in the playground (weather permitting). Please can we politely ask that you bring coins for any payments as it is not always possible for us to provide the correct change. Cash payments only.

Thank you kindly for all your donations so far but we are not accepting any more uniform donations for the time being.

Our last sale raised just over £40 for school funds which is  great and parents and carers were very glad to be able to buy these items at a very low cost. Thank you for your support.

Could we please remind parents that, if your child accidentally takes home another child's fleece or jumper, you please return this back to the school as soon as possible.

After school Clubs Donation

We pride ourselves on offering our children a varied and exciting range of activities on our before and after school clubs. The school clubs donation fund will allow us to provide additional activities across all year groups.

We have a voluntary school club fund donation of any amount. Parents can donate for the school club fund online via our Arbor payment system. Go to:  Accounts - Club Donation - Top Up Account, or simply bring your cash donation to the school office in a named envelope.

We would like to thank you for your support.
