Power of Coaching
Colleagues from across LEO enjoyed their training session with Mrs Day and Miss Potter. This programme supports colleagues to gain a deeper understanding about the power of coaching and the impact that great coaching has on learning. The group explored the GROW Model on the session which they are now keen to continue to hone in their own practices.
Outstanding Leadership in Education
Existing and aspriring leaders joined Mrs A Day and Mrs C Lester for a great training session as part of the Olevi Outstanding Leadership in Education Programme.
This session provided the opportunity to discuss leadership attributes and to engage with a Diamond 9 activity. Some great discussion, challenge and compromise in order to make the final decisions.

Universal Practices of Effective Teaching: Formative Assessments, Examples and Feedback

If there were a simple, straightforward-to-follow blueprint for “effective” teaching, then it would form the basis of all teacher development, yes? After all, it is far easier for everyone to be on the same page if there is only one page to refer to.
However, what determines “effective” teaching is in itself determined by the context in which the teaching is taking place, and that context changes constantly; the most effective teachers are also the most responsive – they draw on their repertoire of skills and their reservoir of experience to make the best choices at the right times.

Mic check - can someone please sort the feedback? - part 2

Last academic year, Amarbeer Singh Gill ran a session on Feedback and shared a blog. He has written a follow-up blog in advance of our Spotlight Session on the EEF’s Guidance Report on Feedback running on Monday 22 January.
In our previous blog on Feedback we said that one of the obstacles we run into when discussing feedback is that there isn’t a shared definition of the term.
We attempted to address this by using the analogy of a thermostat to come up with a shared understanding:
‘Feedback is information about how far the current state is from the desired state, and forms part of a feedback loop with a mechanism to bring the current state closer to the desired state.’

Unlocking the evidence: Literacy- developing pupils' language capabilities

Primary Maths Funded Subject Leader Update

This funded (free to attend) live update meeting is an excellent way to keep up to date with all the news, issues and developments in maths, making it essential for all maths subject leaders to attend.
The focus will support subject leaders to further enhance the curriculum and secure highly effective teaching and learning across the school. Attendance will ensure teachers are up to date with effective leadership, key messages and the possible actions to undertake.

Reading Leader Network
English Hub
Our half termly Reading Leader Network will provide an opportunity to meet other reading leaders working across the 16 London Boroughs supported by the Wandle English Hub.
Each session will focus on a different topic. There will be input from facilitators, updates from the latest research and guidance as well as opportunities for discussion, the sharing of expertise & best practice and networking.

Spring 2: Phonics Screening Check preparation (Tuesday 19th March)
Summer 1: Parental Engagement (Tuesday 7th May)
