Are you passionate about inclusion and ensuring all students reach their full potential? Perhaps you have experience working with SEND students and a desire to take a leadership role.

This "Do you want to be a SENDCO?"information session is perfect for educators who are thinking about the SENDCO role and whether it may be a career path for them. We'll delve into the day-to-day responsibilities of a SENDCO, the essential skills needed to thrive in this role, and the rewards of championing SEND within your school.

Fixing Learning with Formative Assessment

Even with the best-laid curriculum plans, classroom learning can easily go awry. A painstakingly crafted lesson plan is always at the mercy of pupils’ misunderstanding. 

In his brilliant book, entitled ‘The Hidden Lives of Learners’, Graham Nuthall observed and recorded around 10,000 lessons and concluded that:

“One of the greatest enemies of effective teaching is pupil misunderstanding. No matter how well you describe something, how well you illustrate and explain it, pupils invent some new way to misunderstand what you have said.”

Access Art Draw-ALong

Monday July 1st 2024 10am-10.45 via Zoom

Open to Access Art Members

Wherever you are, whoever you are, we invite you to join us live at 10am on the 1st July, to draw alongside us in this participatory event!

The AccessArt team will lead a number of drawing exercises, and Rowan Briggs Smith will be your live drawing demonstrator.

Watch the event on a whiteboard or other device, and as we lead the exercises, you can draw along in your classrooms, halls, community spaces or homes. 

After the first couple of drawing exercises we will invite you to make a drawing of an object which has personal meaning to you, and then we’ll invite you to share your images on our Padlet or by social media. 

You’ll need to supply your own drawing materials – we’ll be in touch about these but no special materials will be needed.

Reading Leader Network

English Hub

Our half termly Reading Leader Network will provide an opportunity to meet other reading leaders working across the 16 London Boroughs supported by the Wandle English Hub.

Each session will focus on a different topic. There will be input from facilitators, updates from the latest research and guidance as well as opportunities for discussion, the sharing of expertise & best practice and networking.

They will be an online event taking place on Zoom. The sessions will be led by Matthew Courtney, Wandle English Hub Lead, and Emma Quigley, teacher Key Stage Leader and Lead of Phonics, Reading and Spelling at Corpus Christi Catholic Primary School.
