Primary Geography Subject Leader Training

Power of Coaching
Date and times:
Wednesday 24th May 2023 - 3pm-5pm
Tuesday 20th June 2023 - 3pm-5pm
Led by: Alison Day, Executive Principal & Catherine Lester, Executive Principal
Course Overview:
Practitioners will gain a deeper understanding about the power of coaching and the impact that great coaching has on learning - being able to confidently apply several strategies to deepen the thinking of pupils; inspire colleagues to develop and grow; and become a more reflective and energised professional. As a credible coach, professionals will be able to coach informally, formally and in a structured way using the OLEVI Analytical Coaching programme.
Full attendance of this programme will enable you to:
* Utilise processes and skills to coach pupils and professionals to improve learning, thinking and well-being;
* Implement OLEVI’s informal, formal and structured coaching with individuals;
* Model courage, humility and discipline when engaging with coaching conversations.

use a range of monitoring tools to gather evidence of attainment and progress across the school
identify specific actions to enhance science teaching & learning in your school

Mentor Training
A great session with our second year Early Career Teacher Mentors as part of the @CEL_IOE @HCACP_TSHub ECF programme.
Fantastic to reflect on the mentoring experience over the past two years and to consider areas of strength, challenges and next steps.
We would like to thank all of our wonderful second year mentors for all of your wonderful contributions during our training sessions this year. You provide fantastic support for your early career teachers and they really appreciate the time they spend with you.

Network Learning Community Facilitators and Curriculum Leaders Training
Mrs A Carlile, Director of Training and Professional Development and Mrs S Wilkinson, Director of Teaching and Learning led a training session for our LEO Network Learning Community Facilitators and our Curriculum Leaders.
The first part of the session focused on revisiting what makes effective PD & the purpose of NLC meetings. The second half of the session explored strategies to develop metacognition across the curriculum.

Outdoor maths teaching inspiration for the summer term
By Maths No Problem!
As the weather gets warmer and classrooms get stuffier, outdoor learning is a great outlet during the summer term. Learning outdoors offers excitement, a change of scenery, space and countless natural learning opportunities.
The Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) recommends that time should be dedicated for children to learn mathematics in different environments. In addition to this, the EEF suggests that outdoor learning supports disadvantaged pupils to participate in activities that they otherwise might not have access to. Through implementing outdoor learning, all children gain new experiences that can motivate and re-engage learners who don’t necessarily thrive in the classroom.
