Power of Coaching

Date and times:

Wednesday 24th May 2023 - 3pm-5pm

Tuesday 20th June 2023 - 3pm-5pm

Led by: Alison Day, Executive Principal & Catherine Lester, Executive Principal


Course Overview:


Practitioners will gain a deeper understanding about the power of coaching and the impact that great coaching has on learning - being able to confidently apply several strategies to deepen the thinking of pupils; inspire colleagues to develop and grow; and become a more reflective and energised professional. As a credible coach, professionals will be able to coach informally, formally and in a structured way using the OLEVI Analytical Coaching programme.


Full attendance of this programme will enable you to:


* Utilise processes and skills to coach pupils and professionals to improve learning, thinking and well-being;

* Implement OLEVI’s informal, formal and structured coaching with individuals;

* Model courage, humility and discipline when engaging with coaching conversations.

Outstanding Teaching Assistant Programme

Last week Teaching Assistants from across @leoacademies took part in session 2 of the @OLEVItalk Outstanding Teaching Assistant Programme. This session focused on questioning, differentiation and feedback.

Early Career teachers from across @LEOacademies & @SuttonEdTrust enjoyed a training session last week focused on inclusion as part of our @ChallengePartnr SW London Hub ECT Programme. Thank you to Jaidz Majasi, LEO Trust SENDco for leading this informative session.


Second Year ECT Training

A great session last week with our second year Early Career teachers as part of the @CEL_IOE @HCACP_TSHub ECF programme.

Fantastic to explore the practitioner inquiry in more depth & to share tips on how to make an interim claim for their inquiry.

We can't wait to see how these ideas develop!

Reminders versus retrieval practice

Should I remind my students of prior knowledge, or should they have to recall it?

When activating prior knowledge, it can be tempting to remind students of previously studied material. After all, this can be much quicker than asking questions to all members of the class, ensuring full participation, and then providing the correct answers and feedback. There is often a lot of content teachers need to deliver and present in a lesson, in addition to checking for understanding and accuracy before moving onto to the next section or topic.

Level 4 SLQ/AfPE 'Supporting Pupil's Wellbeing through Physical Education'


A fantastic addition to any primary teacher who teaches or leads on PE or any secondary PE lead's portfolio of CPD. Accredited by Sports Leaders UK and The Association for Physical Education, equivalent to Year 1 of a Bachelors Degree.


It focuses on empowering staff to incorporate the Five Ways to Wellbeing into their everyday practice and gives delegates the chance to empower young people, advocate and influence whole school development in wellbeing. An introductory 3 hour course designed to increase awareness of young people’s mental health and some of the issues that can affect this age group, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders and psychosis. It will equip you with skills to support and work more effectively with young people and help you relate to their experiences.
