What is the Children's Market?
It is simply a market run by children for children! We have recognised the entrepreneurial skills of many of our students and thought we would give them the opportunity to run their own business for the day. The children will take responsibility for their business idea, planning, organising, setting up, selling, handling money, working out change and clearing up at the end. They will also have the opportunity to promote their stall over the PA system, developing their confidence in public speaking and selling their products.
When is it and what time?
The Market is on Sunday 11th June 2023.
It is open to the public from 12.00-3.00pm.
Set up time from 10.30am.
What can I sell on my stall?
You can sell anything you like!
Some examples could be:
handmade items such as jewellery, bath bombs, cards, paintings
cakes, biscuits, ice creams, smoothies (no nuts please)
freshly made orange juice
pre -loved toys, games, teddies, and books
pre-loved clothes and shoes
fidget toys
plants, flower arrangements
Or you might want to have a stall with
games
crafts
activities stall such as lucky dip/tombola
The only things you cannot sell are toy guns, silly string, and bangers. Please be aware that you will be required to clear up any mess made by your business.
The stalls must be child orientated, no existing adult businesses will be accepted.
Please note: If you are selling homemade food or drinks, you will be required to provide a list of ingredients on your stall.
What do I need to bring?
You need to provide everything for your stall such as:
table
tablecloth - if required
chair
float
items to sell
signs
bags (if needed)
How much will it cost?
The cost is £2 per stall to be paid in cash on the day.
What time do I need to arrive?
The playground will be open to cars for unloading from 10.30am.
Please enter via the staff carpark and follow the directions of the marshals.
All vehicles need to be removed from the playground and car park by 11.40am.
Parking will only be available in the surrounding roads.
The Market will open to the public at 12pm, so give yourself plenty of time to set up your stall.
Vehciles will not be allowed back on site until 3pm.
Will there be toilets and refreshments?
There will be toilets available on the day.
The Shawley Fundraisers (PTA) will be running a refreshment stall and BBQ selling burgers, hot dogs, vegetarian options, ice lollies, crisps, and hot and cold drinks (cash and card will be accepted).
How do I sign up?
If you have liked what you have read and would like to have a stall, you can register your interest by filling in this form.
Please be aware we will need a contact number for an adult who will be supporting you with your stall throughout the duration of the market.
£2 payment will be collected on the day.
We will contact you the week before with the final details.
