Closing Gaps in Maths due to Covid-19

Closing Gaps in Maths due to Covid-19 with Natasha Dolling

Who should attend?

  • Teachers (Primary)

  • Math Subject Leaders

What will I learn?

What the main gaps children in Year 2 are experiencing nationally and how you can support your class to maximise the time left in KS1, preparing them for KS2.

How will it change my teaching?

  • Understand what mistakes children are likely to make and what type of mistake they are making.

  • Identify what teaching points were missed due to Covid-19 and how these are contributing to children’s errors and misunderstanding.

  • Know what to look out for in your lessons or what to pre-emptively tackle.

  • Know what additional resources or tasks to use in your classroom to embed understanding.

Training will be recorded and the video of this will be given to attendees that have signed up for the training.

CPD Spotlight!

Bar Modelling

Thank you to Natasha Dolling, Director of Maths, for leading a great session open to all focused on 'Bar Modelling',

Staff across the Trust increased their confidence in the different types of bar models and how to introduce them or use them in class. There were lots of ideas to take away about how to stretch children's thinking with bar modelling and they all came away with an appreciation and deeper understanding of how they are used in different year groups. It was perfect timing with #Barvember happening all across LEO!

This session is now available here on our LEO Academy YouTube Page.

Singing Games Part 2

Thank you to Jane Greene Director of Music, for leading a great session open to all 'Singing Games'

This session focused on exploring singing games that are suitable for KS2 pupils. The singing games helped to reinforce the following interrelated dimensions of music - pulse, tempo, dynamics, pitch, structure, timbre, texture, rhythm and notation.

This session is now available here on our LEO Academy YouTube Page.

NQT Programme - Digital Transformation and Innovation

Thank you to Cheryl Shirley, Lead Teacher of Technology for Learning, for leading a great session for our LEO NQTs on 'Digital Transformation and Innovation'.
