This week, our children attended an important Rail Safety assembly. This session was invaluable in ensuring our pupils are well-informed and aware of how to stay safe around railways.

We also enjoyed a wonderful class assembly from 4P. The children shared their learning with confidence and enthusiasm, and it was a delight to see their hard work.

Yesterday marked a special day as we held our VE Day celebrations. It was a privilege to welcome local elderly residents to our school to share in this significant occasion. Ben's moving bugle performance, along with the children's heartfelt singing of VE songs, created a truly memorable atmosphere. We also took the opportunity to teach the children about the historical importance of VE Day.

Finally, our netball team participated in a league game against St Albans. The children demonstrated great teamwork and sportsmanship.

Reminder for wrap around care and universal breakfast next week

Next week we will be holding Year 6 SATs breakfast in the school before school so wraparound care and universal breakfast need to walk around to the Early Years playground and drop your child off at the library door.

World Day for Cultural Diversity 

On Tuesday the 20th of May we will be taking part in World Day for Cultural Diversity. Last year was a great success and we hope this event will again be a fun day for everyone to learn a little more about the wonderful and different cultures celebrated by our Hurst Park families. On this day children are invited to wear mufti and will be asked to come to school wearing clothes that represent their heritage in some way. This could be traditional costume, clothes that are the colours of a countries flag, or sports clothes that represent a country e.g. football shirts etc. 

During the school day, teachers are going to offer pupils the opportunity to share with their class some information about their heritage, culture or religion if they wish to do so, as part of a class show and tell session. We would also like to reach out to any parents and carers who would be willing to read a book or share some information about their heritage, cultural background or religion with their child’s class. If you would like to come into school to share information with your child’s class, we ask that you contact their class teacher directly to arrange a time to come in.

Hurst Park Primary Academy is looking for volunteers to enhance children's learning. Volunteers are highly valued and appreciated by children and staff. In the past, volunteers have helped children with reading and maintaining the Library. Volunteers must complete a comprehensive induction programme, including a DBS check, and adhere to our Safeguarding procedures. Volunteering hours are flexible.  If you are interested in making a difference, please complete the Volunteer Registration form  to apply. Year 6 are currently having a fantastic Computing lesson using Micro:bit (a tiny computer). The children are creating code, then words or objects appear on the LED display depending on the sequence of instructions that have been inputted. We have some Computing Geniuses in the making.
